New job time (again!)

I can’t decide whether I am proud or appalled of myself for reading through all 11 pages of this thread in one go!!!

eagerbeaver:
Morning HS. Was last nights Merlot ’ spectacular ’ ? PMSL  Later on today I shall be revealing on here my NEW EMPLOYER (drum roll).
Be sure to tune in folks…
Sent by a man with a backbone

Oh wow can’t wait Zzzzz :unamused:
More drama, from the Drama Queen, although I’m not sure what percentage to place on the drama and queen parts maybe 50/50, definitely suppressing a lot of pent up anger
Sent by a man with a backbone…and a brain!
You go sister Beaver!

As my experience level is now quite high, and I am a naturally gifted driver, I think the next obvious step for me is to distance work.

I have had a tip off about a long distance work from a driver on here, and I am grateful. A quick call to my new boss has confirmed that I can use social media, but he will keep an eye on it which is fair enough.

So as promised I will tell you who I work for. It’s a small firm not too far from me. Brian Armitage (INTL TRANSPORT) and I will be doing runs abroad and tramping for a fortnight at a time.

Pay isn’t the greatest but the adventure looks exciting

It’s like Bellend Central around these parts.

Hands up if you’re a bit of a bellend.

Good luck with the job mate. I think the smaller environment will suit better

" tramping for a fortnight at a time " You won’t last a fortnight, you fat shed ! I give it 10 days, then you’ll be back on the agency for the Xmas rush.

Don’t forget your phone when you are heading for the train

good luck MrB

I saw one of theirs on the M20 earlier. Good tackle

Don’t forget your phone when you are heading for the train

He can always nip back from Folkestone if he forgets, I’m sure his boss won’t mind!
Maybe head back via Devon to grab some clotted cream for his coffee…

Best of luck Beaver, just one sugar in mine please.

eagerbeaver:
Luckily for me 123 buttsniff I am not you. And if anyone wants to contact my new employer they are free to

Unlike you chap, I don’t reek of fear, and won’t be asking the mods to delete anything. If anything, I think the mods have pulled a blinder by letting this one run.

We do our best Mr B, but there are limits… it’s fine to attack and rip the ■■■■ out of something that somebody writes, after all, that’s what forums are for, so you can do that all day long and even twice on Sundays, BUT… it’s completely against forum rules to attack the person. ( = Petty name-calling and such like.)

I’m sure we’ve all had a good laugh reading this, and fair play to you Mr B for that, but when things start getting personal, it could make a poster look like a bit like a keyboard warrior.

Good luck and let’s keep it good natured!!

Cheers Dave.

cant quite understand why a quick phone call to planner to say your nipping home or have nipped home for reason x y or z,

eagerbeaver:
The reason I called back at home was because I had left my phone,

you clearly missed the post where the planner called him on his cab phone…

The cab phone doesn’t always work too well, and sometimes not at all.

Which is why often, the planners would contact me on my mobile (hands free of course). So it would appear your post (like your others) is pointless.

Try harder…

i personally think its the ones that are egging him on and telling him, even begging him that are the ones with no balls, there entertainment is getting someone else to do their bit for them… sad really,
some just love their little support groups…

others stand up for themselves everyday but dont feel the need to come on here everyday to have their egos massaged.

 And some are all gob and no action.
As for my ego, (seeing as I have made no secret of my support) I do tend to stand up for myself at work, it’s just the way I am, and I make no apologies for doing so, but no need for massaging thanks mate, and if confidence wrongly comes across as arrogance and conceit, that can not be helped, but you are entitled to your opinion and interpretation.

I,m full of gob and action, an ex union rep who as stuck up for many colleaques in the past, and as Ive posted a few times took action against a past employer, with Union top guys telling me I stood no chance and many ex colleagues selling themselves down the river… I won my case and received a substantial payout, this leads me onto beaver and his constant comments about mortgage (he must have a fetish about them  ) the above payout allowed me to clear my mortgage some 15 years ago. we have very few bills and for the last 10ish years 1/3 of our wages (wife wage included) as been paid into a savings/ Isa,s ect. which will allow us to retire in 9 years time… so financially I,m pretty comfortable thankyou…

Op as found himself another job so all I can do is wish him luck…

I can think of something else you are full of…

either you could have maybe spoken to them via the yard you departed from. or once you picked up your own phone rang and told them…

not really difficult really but them I,m just a worm, working top pay my mortgage…

Don’t worry about being a worm.

At least the birds will like you.

Come on then rob, would you have done what he did? Do you think he’s done anything wrong? When you ran your own trucks what would your response be if this happened with one of your drivers? Obviously this will vary from someone doing this on their 1st day with you to someone that’s been with you for 20 years. And to clarify, roughly he set off on a 11 mile round trip starting and finishing in the yard, but ended up doing roughly 37 miles taking 2 planned detours.

And do yourself a favour and don’t make out that anyone with a different opinion to yourself or beaver is brainwashed

Firstly thanks a lot for the favour advice mate, but don’t bother yourself, I do not think that, I do actually and genuinely think many are company brainwashed, if that does not suit you I can not help that.

Ok, if it had been done to me, and it was the first time, I would have had more respect for that guy if he had just give me the heads up quietly that the firm would not be happy with me calling round home, instesd of scurrying along to his superior loving the fact he had dropped me in the [zb].
Granted he would have got a ‘‘What? well for [zb] s sake’’ sort of response, but at least it would have not been blown out of all proportion to the point where I lost my job, …even though I would maybe have looked around for something else if I was hounded or treated as anything less than an adult.

As for the boot on the other foot, my firm and a driver doing the same, I did not have many lads leave me as I looked after them, they were mostly older than me, I was in my 20s so yeh they tried it on, but we soon came to an understanding who was in charge.
I would have weighed up the situation , if I thought it was worth mentioning depending on how good a lad he was, and any tolerance depending on what he had done for me in the past,.
Then if I did not like it tell him, and that would be it, job done.
Not make a song and dance by forming a [zb] ‘disciplinary hearing’ :unamused: or whatever management buzzword phrase they use, as if he had committed murder.
Hope that answers all your questions.

Sorry, my fault, I wasn’t clear enough, I meant would you purposely turn an 11 mile trip into a 37 mile one for 2 planned detours? And do you think beaver did anything wrong?

Look mate if what you say is true, I aint going to face it out and say that sort of off route distance is not worthy of a bollocking… granted of course it is.

However just had a quick flick through Beaver’s posts, to check before I answered you, and as far as I see he reckons it was a 6 mile off route.
Ok, going off route will be frowned upon, but an official ‘disciplinary hearing’ followed by big co. style ‘severe warning on record’ and/or the sack? :open_mouth:
That what my gripe was,… mountains and ■■■■ molehills , over the top, pretentiousness and pomposity at it’s worst imo, what this industry never had until recent years, and does not ■■■■ need. :bulb:

As for me, I will go off route to find a suitable overnight parking place every time neccessary (always have since they shut all the town and city truck parks) maybe up to about 5 miles, and I will defend my reasons for doing it everytime as I refuse to park in any lay bys, which by their nature are unsuitable, or overpriced rip off MSAs. or in the middle of nowhere.
(To be fair I did tell my employers before employment started)

If we all did so, the present govt’s policy of ‘could not give a ■■■■ because drivers will put up with it’ may change, but solidarity? …Don’t make me laugh, look at some of the attitudes on this thread alone, :unamused:
Ok maybe Beaver aint doing himself many favours by his wind ups, but a driver has been booted when a simple talking to would have sufficed…that is the problem here. :bulb:
