New job.....not going well

I have totaled at least three parked cars in foreign parts& never had any come-back…Golden rule …Never report it… If its in a busy road in daylight ,get out the cab & write ‘Sorry’ with the guys number on a piece of paper & stick it under his windscreen. People always think you are putting your details down. Once I wrecked a lamppost on a bad turn outside a police station . Took all the details ;the time, street name etc put the paper in my pocket & never heard another thing…But at other times I have been arrested for small accidents to property that had nothing at all to do with me.
PS. The guy you surrended to will probably claim for whiplash injuries…

It is very strange how people react to a scrape on a chunk of metal. It’s not as if you injured a child or something.
I was once actually taken to court and accused of hitting a neighbours car with mine. The only evidence she had was that she had a scrape of white paint - and I owned a white car - so it must have been me. :open_mouth:
VERY hard to prove it was nothing to do with me. The neighbour in question was actually on holiday abroad when her car was scraped and took heresay from another who ‘presumed’ it to be me.
What an absolute farce. I could not believe I ended up in court over it even though I had no knowledge of the incedent at all. I did discover it is easy to prove whhat you HAVE done but very difficult to prove what you have NOT done. (Luckily they did not find me guilty.)
When it comes to their precious cars all sense and reason seems to go out of the window.

I would have thought that if he shifted the cones then the responsibility for the ding laid with him, if the red flags are flying at the seaside, you dont go swimming.
Yes, VERY brave man (with his mate). Would communication with the yard’s head honcho about the incident help? As with everyone else, you did nowt wrong so in the words of the band “Argent”…Hold your head up!!! GB
OR… Nil Carborundum desperatum (Pardon my Latin) Never let the zb’s grind you down

A brave man coming out with his mate. I bet he’s one of those blokes with a big “ego” type dog, they normally drive big “ego” type cars.

Personally I think it’s because they are a bit lacking in the trouser department. Just go back tomorrow head held up high and if he has anything to say just think little prick.

grumpybum:
Management are 100% supportive, but I’m dreading shift tomorrow… :frowning:

Sounds like a run they should send me on. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Oh dear, I can’t get in cos you morons have blocked the way. No problem, I’ll sit here blocking the exit until I have just enough time to get back in my 15hrs which, unfortunately for you, will be several hours after you’re due to go home.

On a serious note though, if you feel intimidated and they’re using violent and threatening behaviour towards you, lock the doors and phone the Police.

IF THEY’RE IN THE WAY HIT THEM.. Seriously. You can bet your bottom dollar that the company has a liability cop out so it’s tough on them. Private property too so claiming on the lorry insurance is going to be fun. Once a few have chunks gouged out of the side, they’ll no longer park there. Happened in MK when people used to park on the path right up to the kerb on a turning circle up a dead end road on one industrial estate. One of our drivers was spinning round and put a 10 foot long gash down the side of this beemer. People stopped parking there after that.

If you’d known how much of a ■■■■ he was going to be about it, you’d have made sure you’d hit his car properly!

I’m feeling the urge to punch him and I don’t even know him!

as others have said, he was VERY brave coming out of the premises WITH HIS MATE to confront this trucker who had obviously totalled his car, … oh sorry, that’s tonight …

Ive had this happen to me a couple of years ago. I got so much grief of this guy and his 2 mates, who continually tried to get into the cab, put the wind right up me. Phoned the police and told them the story, couple of minutes later the boys in blue arrived. turns out the guys tax had expired :stuck_out_tongue: Tough luck.

You did what was expected Grumpy .

He sounds like a proper prat …get back on yer horse and ride again :sunglasses:

you had a bad day it has now gone…he is a ■■■■ and has to live in his own head the rest of his life.

DONT WORRY!!!

Grumpy, sorry to here about this, unfortunately its all to common,. If he tries this again tell him that you are calling the law because of his threatening behaviour and because you fear for your safety. Can assure you that his boss wont be to pleased when the police go into his place of work to have a quiet word.

well he would have more than a light out if he tried it on with me, or if id have been there and see him treat you like that. Im sure nearly everyone on here would have helped you.

As your TM is backing you, you can complain to the place your delivering to (if he is an employee). Dont let him think he can treat you like that and get away with it.

Well I got through the day without any major dramas!

Not sure if I made this clear, but we work for the same company - but the factory staff never mix with, and don’t know the transport staff. So although the TM is my boss, our HR dept is the same.

Had to go in and see TM, and then HR to tell them what happened. TM wants him hung drawn and quartered! HR said "he’s actually a nice guy, he’s calmed down now, he says as long as his car gets repaired he’s happy to draw a line under it and not take it any further!! :open_mouth: Well that’s bloody decent of him aint it?

My heart was pounding as I went into the car park - what a wimp! :frowning: But never actually saw him - but there was a courtesy car from an accident repair centre in the car park (parked way up in the far corner out of the way!) So he’s obviously making sure the new lens cover is screwed on by experts.

Just like to thank you all again - you made me feel so much better. A couple of the other drivers rang me today to offer support, and the forkies who unload me were great too, but no-one from the factory floor talked to me, but they’ll obviously stick by their mate, I can live with that.

Anyone got a thicker skin going spare?

I think they said that about Mr. Hitler…?

Always remember,'There’s us and there are the civilians…Never trust civilians…
PS; And never report clips with stationary objects. The only time to worry is if there are people injured.

I think I would have had to give him a spot of counselling if it had been me

A good old Barnsley Kiss would sufice

Anyone got a thicker skin going spare?

This is something you manage to develop as time goes on. If you do bump into the idiot (pardon the expression) just ignore him completely - pretend yo have forgotton the incident as it was so trivial. That should put him in his place.
Prang? What Prang?? - Oh that one! - old news.

problem is these days harry is theres c.c.t.v everywhere, one of ours smashed truck trying to get onto trailer , left note saying hed smashed truck on old coffee machines trying to get in, when they looked at c.c.t.v to see whod dumped them there he was shown reversing back and then running straight into them. . in his words hed gone out to kill them that night

I forgot about CCTV. But at night its a good chance you can get away with it And a lot of CCTV don’t have film in the camera. They are just for surveillance…

I’d tell him if you dont calm down in 5 seconds then i’ll swing the truck round and destroy your car and then run over your head…

But i’m 6ft 4" and 22stone so get a good response lol

Make sure you go back and dont let him get to you

grumpybum:
Well I won’t bore you with the details of why the job isn’t what I expected, but something happened last night that shook me up a bit…

Most companies have anti-bullying policies these days, and if you feel so inclined that this “car driver” has intimidated you and bullied you, which by the sounds of it he did, then I’d suggest you try this route.

You don’t have to go the whole hog but other company employes have guidelines they have to follow to.

Perhaps Mr Car Driver was also sexist in beleiving that you, a woman, should be more qualified to drive a truck than him in his little car…

Alternatively, if you know who the chap is then get your manager to have a word with his manager and get a written and verbal apology from him over this incident…

I know I’m coming late to this post. Away all week. Catching up on missed internet time

Good Luck

YOU know you’re a good driver. Heck, if I’d only had one bump in 15 years of driving I’d be proud too!
