ady1:
from april 11th you cant have 30 1st, 15 2nd , you have to have two 30, s if you have a 30 1st
is that right
Correct. You will only be able to split your break into two periods not three and the first must be at least 15 minutes and the second part must be at least 30 minutes.
If you take anywhere between 15 and 44 minutes for the first part of your break you will still have to take 30 minutes for the second part.
"Duty Rosters and Service Timetables
A regular service in a route over 50km in length is subject to EC Rules, but a tachograph is not required as long as;
• The employer draws up a service timetable and duty roster for crew members.
• The driver takes an extract from the duty roster and a copy of the service timetable with him.
• Where requested to do so by the driver, the employer must give him an extract of the duty roster."

Curiuos as to what they will do about this then, does it now mean that they will have to have tacho,s fitted?
Does this still mean that a driver can arrive at work, spend half hour getting truck ready, drive 5 mins to nearest cafe, take 15 mins break, drive 4hrs & 25mins, take 30 mins break and then drive for 4hrs 30 mins legally?
Hmmm… 8hrs and 25mins driving with a 30min break near the middle of it!

Yes, where as before, you could drive 5 minutes to the nearest cafe, have 30 minutes break, then drive 4 hrs 25 mins, then have 15 mins rest, and drive another 4 1/2 hours, nearly 9 hours driving with only 15 minutes break.
I think this is one of the reasons they have decided your second break must be at least 30 minutes.

Now know what they are doing they are having to or have had new analoguge tachos fitted or replaced, and yesterday we had a tachograph training course it lasted all of five minutes and then they got it all wrongfrom what i have seen and read on here,i think that i will have to do some serious reading before wednsday, its actually quite frightening that they have left it this long to do anything about it,and i am in the same boat as the other drivers as we have not really had to use tachos due to the nature of the vehicles and this is a national company who say that its just been dropped on them out of the blue, dont know who,s kidding who here, and after our five minute basic tachograph course they have asked can we sign here to say that we have recieved it,any ones thoughts on this would be genuinaly appreciated,
Wheel Nut:
Why are they doing this on a Wednesday?
Would it not have been easier to start it at the beginning of the week like tomorrow.
Seems like the biggest change is the weekly rest allowing us to have 24 hour weekly breaks at home Wonderful
Presumably they think that seeing as it takes effect from the 11th of this month thats when we will start it,they are on recrd as saying that if we are working on the tuesday then we can put a tacho in to get use to it,after reading some posts on here i dont know how they think we are going to pick it up that quick, they havnt even shown the drivers where the mode switches need to be etc only how to fill the actual tacho chart out,i have also brought up today that we drive a vehicle down from the depot to the station, leave it there and relieve another driver who then drives that vehicle back upto the depot, the way i see then surely we should be using a tacho on this as well,or am i wrong?
