When somebody else has loaded the trailer or truck,and they say to you “It is ok drive,no need to check the load.”
Never listen to them,even it was a manager.
Check it for straps and loose cargo.
Once you have left the yard,it becomes your problem.Internal straps are good for cargo up to 400kg’s.
Anything over that will need ratchet straps.
Rear inner tyres on tractor units,have a good look for bulges or wire sticking out of the tyres.Not many check there.
Never believe customers that say “Do not worry,we get artics down the narrow lane every day,even the milk tanker and bin lorry can get down,so you should be fine.”
An artic for them is a Ford Transit towing a trailer.A walk to check will save no end of grief and turmoil.
Or ringing the farmer that will say “Meet me by the third Oak tree,past the thatched cottage with the white fence,turn left at the Yew tree.”
