Hi all, first time posting on here and thought id join for some tips etc. Recently took the plunge and passed my class 2 a couple of weeks back. Anyone know of any places in the stoke area which take on newly qualified drivers? Ive had a agency offer me bargain booze in crewe but heard quite a few horror stories about it and its hardball. Also is the co pilot app decent enough satnav wise? Thanks all
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you would have been better training to be a plumber or something else in the building trade.
Driving for a living is crap!
Go out there and sell yourself and someone will take a chance on you.
Ken Wood in Longport or Reid Freight in Weston Coyney would be my first calls, you could also try XPO at the Glen Dimplex site on Trentham Lakes as they run a couple of 18 tonners from there doing local work.
Join an agency and get them to look for you, most are screaming out for class 2. Some companies will send someone out with you for a few days to make sure you’re ok first.
But get the agency to do the work for you. They will find you something.

Are you suggesting that an agency will have the best regard for a new driver and seek the best job for him/her? Will they care more about finding a good job for a naive (?) newby, rather than get a bum on seat to earn their commission?
When you say the agencies will find something, doubtless they will, but not necessarily good, and probably not the best. They`ll simply put a newbie with their client who is paying most/screaming loudest.
If it’s for your very first driving job, definitely do agency for an instant start - I did 2 weeks of 7.5 ton work. Learned how the tachograph and long hours worked. Next I did 6 weeks of 18 ton, central London multi-drop to construction sites with my iPhone for a satnav. Really learned how to spot signs for low bridges, width restrictions and 20 mph speed zones. Throw yourself in at the deep end, never knowingly do anything illegal, don’t break anything, be nice to the customers (they’ll be nice to you then too btw) and never ever moan and you’ll find yourself in demand. You’ll probably get offered a full time job quite quickly if that’s what you want.
