John,
I did my training with Stockport LGV having been recommended them by a friend, was extremely happy, instructor and vehicles were brilliant and I can highly recommended them!!
In regards to work, I’m with DriverHire who are hopefully offering me a interview in the near future and I shall also try topgear, however being only 19 (today in fact
) I don’t know how much work they will give me.
If you would be as so kind as to pass on any possibilities for work that would be fab thank you!!
Rob
John,
Many thanks for passing on TopGear.
I have just spoken to a lady in the office in Warrington who was extremely helpful and positive and they have me in for a appointment on Friday as they have just got a few clients through who are happy to take on inexperienced drivers!
Looks like it may be break, but won’t get too hopeful!
Rob

Where to go from here!!?
Hi robertsherry,
You’re actually somewhat fortunate with your location, because you have Warrington and Runcorn/Widnes on your doorstep.
I can understand your position, so it might be an idea to get an extra qualification eg: FLT, HIAB or ADR to increase your usefulness as a Cat “C” driver. In your position, the more tickets you’ve got, the better your chances.
This isn’t set in stone, and there are always exceptions, but at age 18, you’ll be very lucky to be offered C+E work, even if you have the licence.
If funds are a bit tight, I’d think very carefully before splashing out on a C+E course at the moment.

FINALLY
…
Had my break yesterday I think! Went into TopGear, registered all my details with them, had to do a 43 question test on tacho and driving hours, which was to be expected!
However, they offered me a shift today, yesterday! (if that makes any sense, i.e. they offered me a job straight after registration)
I unfortunately couldn’t take it, due to commitments that I already have, but she says to make sure I keep this coming Monday night free and she will have a job for me pretty much 90% definite!
Loads of companies on file that don’t mind the no experience thing as long as your a willing to take a induction course and be thrown in slightly at the deep end… must make sure I hit the ground running then!
Persistance and talking to people on here has definitely paid off. Many many thanks
Rob
Just a bit of a update!
TopGear Recruitment are fab! They have managed to offer me 4 shifts since I registered…!

Unfortunately, I have been able to accept none of them as all have been whilst I have been at college
Although they have got me on one for Saturday which is great, can’t wait!
Shows persistence pays off!
