Not sure, but they are very helpful on here and I’m sure someone will be along with the answer soon.
Yes, you can drive commercially now providing you have your digi card and Driver Qualification Card. If you passed last month then you should have to 2016/17 to do your 35 hours? Check your DQC card and check the expiry date on it as it’s on there.
Also: You MUST carry that DQC with you at all times while driving commercially.
I gather you passed your car test pre 1997 so yes can drive on whats called grandfather rights , you need to complete 35 hrs before 2014 to continue driving commercially, if you passed your car test post 1997 u will need to complete your cpc before you can drive commercially

As the 2 above posts have mentioned it all depends on when you passed your car test.
Before Jan 1997 - then you will have until Sept 2014 to complete 35 hours periodic training to carry on driving commercially.
After Jan 1997 - then you will have to complete both module 2 and module 4 Initial driver cpc tests before you can drive commercially.
Hope this helps

Indeed.
BfcDuck1 - if you had C1 on your licence from a pre-1997 car test, you are able to drive LGVs commercially now, but must complete 35 hours of periodic DCPC training before September 2014 to retain your right to drive LGVs commercially. You will not get a Driver Qualification Card until you have completed the 35 hours - your driving licence is evidence of your acquired rights.
However, if your recent C test was the first C category entitlement you have held, you must pass LGVÂ initial DCPC (module 2 theory and module 4 practical) tests before you can drive commercially. When you do so, you will be issued with a Driver Qualification Card.
Once you have a Driver Qualification Card, you have to carry it when driving commercially.
I am sure Red Rose, who are reputable trainers, have it right - you had C1 from a pre-1997 car test, so do not need to do LGV initial DCPC.
Hi all and thanks for the replies. Passed my car test in 1994 and drove 7.5t from 95 onwards,. So i can drive now and just need 35 hours cpc b4 sep 14?
