this is perfectly true, they will also fine you £50,000 for every turn of the winding handle on the trailer legs, and they do not now chalk off 2 bays either side of you at the RDC when you run out of hours, they actually close the whole RDC down so that you get a peaceful nights sleep :grimacing:

And the rdc must fly you by chopper to spearmint rhino and arrange a “meeting” with a lady of horizontal refreshment

No, it is not true :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

But it will be one day.

Digital tacho downloads by wifi

Tachosys demonstrated its new wifi digital tachograph download system, digiDL, at the CV Show. The company says that operators will benefit from unattended remote tachograph downloads initiated on their own wireless network. An appropriate company card can reside at any location that has access to the Internet and can be authenticated from the vehicle initiating the download. The customer sets the schedule for each vehicle together with the data required.

This means that companies who adopt digiDL no longer need to waste huge amounts of time manually downloading vehicle tachographs or collecting driver card data, says Tachosys

Tachosys products are already supported by tachograph manufacturers and an operator’s service provider should be able to support the transfer of data from digiDL immediately. Alternatively customers can opt to install digicentral server software provided by Tachosys.

Permanently wired to the rear of the Tachograph, digiDL uses the tachograph’s CAN-bus interface and is designed to be concealed under the dashboard. The unit can be initially configured by PC and subsequently configured remotely.

Mark Pot, Managing Director, TachoByte B.V.

Everrything is possible, only money and time are in between this and use by the controling instances :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:
Because it’s time consuming, they could do it on points where you spend more time, e.g petrol stations, ferry or train crossings, truck parks etc.
I have seen the fisrt digital tacho in the early 90’s, so it took 15 years to develop, hopefully this crap will do a similair time to be operational.
It could be easy used to connect to your immobiliser on the truck, they don’t have to stop you, your tacho does it for you.
I think with cost reduction by Governements and executing agencies, they will have less people on the road and get more automatisation.
For people who operate by the book, no problem only advantages, as there is no need to stop you.
In Holland they have in many roads dynamic vehicle weighing, so when you are to heavy they get you every time, but when you are inside the limits, you don’t have to slow down and don’t get stopped at all.
Bad for the bad boys, good for the law abbiding haulers.
