Moved house, used the online service to change the address on my licence, it came very quickly. Sent the old one back along with the form for new digicard (no new photo needed) and within a couple of days got a letter from DVLA. Was expecting it to be saying “your card is ready for collection from your local office” but it was actually my new card with a prepaid envelope and a letter saying “fill in the form, make sure your card has been downloaded and send the old one back please”. Has anyone else had this? Is this what’s happening now they are closing all of the local offices?

I believe they’ve been posting them directly to the recipient for quite a while now, in fact as far as I can remember there isn’t even a place on the form to nominate an office to collect the card from any-more.
I’m not aware of any offices closing.
I had mine changed last year and the same story. Downloaded and returned old one. Easy peasy

Sorry it is proposed closures, I had to go fetch mine from Birmingham when I moved in late 2010. It’s a much better idea posting them out.

Only if you’ve moved. If the old one expired you can keep it.
