seems everyone buys DAF now
Maybe the price is right , or is there another reason ? .
there are tons of these new units on the road they must be dirt cheap, just to get round the lez zone. considering i had one for 3 months no storage and the mattresses are way to thin and too much plastic, i would rather have a stralis.

I’ve had a few of these and just got a 61 plate newby last week I love MAN’s, I had an Axor inbetween & felt like I was driving a Transit Van!
We had 7 new xf’s this month 460 6x2, so far absolutely gutless and heavy on fuel ( may improve with time) worst is the wind noise inside and draughts through the doors !
Bit of an eye opener from an FH

now we are going to have to agree to disagree as i like the axor better, i would rather tramp all week in an axor than man.
I think it depends what area you are in. Sadly round here everyone buys DAF, they are noisy, the interior falls apart in no time and absolutely gutless.
MAN on the other hand are a lot better looking, far better on fuel and seem to pull well.
Then again it probably depends on what job they are put on but I’d take a TGX over pretty much anything these days, they just get on with the job and “work”

I driven quite a few different trucks, certainly all the main ones DAF MAN SCANIA VOLVO MERC , I think the M.A.N s have or did have a very good driving position the older TGA Or roadhouse with a manual box , had enough space and pulled very well , and even the bunks where comfy too ,not had the pleasure of driving the latest models as yet
As for the DAF yeas i too found them fairly gutless and not enough space, bunks ok in the newer ones
I think the M.A.N looks better than the DAF

Certainly in the aggregate game, DAF CF’s became “flavour of the month” about 6 years ago, especially when they shut Foden down. And judging by our 05 Plate 85.340, it’s well deserved! Work well in the rough stuff, has had very little apart from routine maintenance, and competitively priced, especially on parts.
Don’t get the hatred of them on here at times, as compared to the Volvo we had before the DAF, it’s leagues ahead!
Dew, the rubber suspension fitted to foden Alphas are way more comfortable than the (in our case) creaky steel suspension of the CF. Cab doors are better on the CF as it’s imposiible to keep the flat Foden doors clean. The storage boxes behind the seats are good but I pulled out the one on the engine hump as i was used to sleeping across the cab at breaktime The air seat in my Foden is (and has always been) crap-one minute it sinks almost to the floor next it’s lifting my feet off the pedals, it won’t even hold with the air suspension locked off. Driving position is crap too. Strangely enough I prefer the old Leyland Daf 75/85 cab. There’s a good chance I’m getting a new CF so I’ll grin and bear it and ask to keep the Foden
Can someone please answer this question ? why do trucks have to be sexi ,? is it just to boost the drivers moral and boost his standing with other drivers when he pulls into a truck stop or RDC . Or is it a bit naff to buy a truck because its reliable , has good fuel consumption , etc ,etc , I recently read that a very well known haulier who tested a Merc Axor in thier fleet , liked the vehicle a great deal and certainly would have then in his fleet but didnt because their drivers didnt like them and has no doubt had to purchace some over priced vehicle to please their drivers !!! ( how sad ) ,no wonder the industry is in the mess its in .
