New Class 2 {C} Driver with question

Hello guys, and firstly sorry to trouble your time.
Having passed my class c test on 14.04.14 and awaited my much eagered licence and new tacho card back, went to an agency i shall not name{Pertemps} burton on trent … Was told by the “Logistics Driver Guru” im not able to drive a ridged until ive got my cpc mod 4 ? i have grandfather rights on licence… is he correct or full of unleaded?..

You have the licence and digicard. You are ok to drive.
Find another agency. He is talking bull manure.

Well done on the pass.
You are right, you can drive until September. The challenge will be finding someone to take you on with zero periodic training hours. I would get your 35 hours done asap mate.

I thought anyone who’s passed since the DCPC was introduced has to have DCPC before they can drive commercially?

did you have c1 before then?

Who has ‘acquired rights’
You’ll have ‘acquired rights’ if you’re a:

lorry driver and got your vocational licence (C, C1, C+E and C1+E) before 10 September 2009
bus or coach driver and got your vocational licence (D, D1, D+E and D1+E) before 10 September 2008 - this includes a restricted vocational licence D(101) issued after 1991 and D1(101) issued before 1997 (though you should by now have completed periodic training)
You’ll need to pass all 4 parts of the Driver CPC initial qualification to be able to drive professionally if you don’t have ‘acquired rights’.

If you didn’t have c1 before
then yeah you have to do all the Initial CPC stuff ie mod 4 and mod 2 if you haven’t done so already then you have to wait for your cpc card then you can drive professionally

No, if they had an old pre 97 car license (like mine) you get a ghost DCPC date, and can drive until September this year using these grandfather rights. The idea was to give the old hands time to get their 35 hours.

Speak to the company that you did you’re training with, they should be able to sort you out, I had to have a 45 minute test at the test centre for the initial Cpc but I didn’t have grandfather rights so I don’t know if the same applies for you.

Yes i have grandfather rights passed in 96.
never needed c1 .To be honest im on a combo course to include my C+E and my Cpc mod 4 so ill do that first i think, just wanted to cut my teeth abit first, seems so many hoops to jump through, lol. thanks guys i think ill just get every bit of blimmin paper test exam, etc they can think of and then apply for work…oh know i cant need two years exp: lol …

a lot of places will take u on as new class2, once you get used to the size there easy, its the bendys that youll struggle with

Now that the vehicles are much easier to drive our wonderful masters have made it much more difficult to obtain a driving licence, and of course due to their inactions its near impossible to find a job.
