You have may have noticed the construction work just passed Micheal Wood MSA, the website says it will create 300 new jobs, and be the most pleasant MSA in the UK.
The owners are the same as Westmoreland Tebay MSA, it seems the Nimbies went to court to stop the build, and lost, on about spoiling the views.
The Highways Agency mention the new name of Brookthorpe. How much will they charge for the LGV parking,£50 per night?
Opens Spring 2014.
their was a program on radio 4 about it a few months ago they are using a msa up on the m6 as a model for it poss tebay? only using local people to run it ( tho thay will prob find some poles living local ) and using local produce ect .was quite intesting to hear how and why the older msa was started buy a local farmer
Tebay services AND Tebay truckstop are owned by the same people… they sell local produce in the shops and use local grown meat, veg and other ingredients as much as possible in their restaurants…
and they are no more expensive than the other msa’s
I did wonder what they were building there thanks for the heads up.
Bet the owners of m/w msa are well impressed. Tebay is a very good truckstop except for one thing, during the day it`s more like the local coach station.
the staff in the truckstop used to give priority to lorry drivers if there was a coachload queueing for meals.
you only had to ask…
I don’t know if they still do that though.

They still do, the main problem is finding somewhere to sit, ever table can be full of either the blue rinse brigade or the next Jeremy Kyle audience.
They should only grant Westmorland the licence to run any new MSA.
Tebay is the best MSA in the country by a country mile. The northbound is a bit tight for trucks when it’s busy but southbound is fine.
I always stop & spend some money when I’m going past, the parking is reasonable about £12 I think and although its not cheap food wise, it’s no more expensive than the others and the food is pure excellence.
Lucky I don’t have a fridge in the truck or I’d do the weekly shop there as well.
Good to hear something positive about an MSA for a change. Hopefully other MSA operators might take note, but i doubt it whilst people still spend money in their poorly run overpriced pooholes.
Tebay is the best MSA in the UK by a country mile. Never had to use it in a working capacity, but I agree it does get busy with the blue rinse brigade.
Worth it for the food though !!

And the deli counter. If I’m ever on the M6 in ■■■■■■■ and the wife knows I get instructions to buy cheese and those wonderful individual pies that they sell.
I heard the owners of Strensham and Mickeytake Wood objected loudest to the new service areas. I expect the lorrypark will be taken over by wobble boxes pulled by Rovers and driven by National Trust members soon after opening.
Surprising how many service areas there are on the M5 between Strensham and Bridgewater, but then with convoys of Tesco artics doing 40mph on the M5, with previously mentioned National Trust members towing/shaking their Rover 75/Wobble box combo, you wont get far before needing to use another service area…
So is the truck stop a couple of miles before Tebay services owned by Westmorland as well then? How does it compare with the services directly on the motorway, I’ve never tried it as I’ve always gone in to the MSA.

Look left at gate 38 southbound m6 when you’re rolling down the hill at 125 clicks plus!

Michael Wood have just spent a fortune re-vamping it so i’m sure they’re not too happy, not convinced one was really needed there but then again it gives people more choice.

Jeez I never realised that, stopped at Tebay MSA for a night out about a hundred times in the past when I was trunking up Scotch! I’d have given the truckstop the time of day if I’d have realised it was run by the same crowd, I was always happy enough in tebay MSA southbound to be honest but i’ll check out the truckstop if I’m up there again.
So that’s what that interestingly-roofed structure in the field close to the motorway is. Only saying this as it’s the first time I’ve been by since the slip roads have appeared.
