I heard a good one at Tesco Weybridge the other day. Got asked by another driver if Stobart makes us drive round with the lift axle down when empty so no one knows we’re running round with no load on.I was told to do that on several occasions. Especially when loads were cancelled and I got pulled out!
No wonder Fiona got stuck in the snow
Wow, an RDC rumour turns out to be true. That’s gotta be a first
the reason they( driver trainers) keep on banging on about running at all times with the midlift down is HEIGHT,there thinking is if you run with the mid lift up on our scania it raises the overall height by 3 inches,so if you run with it down there’s less chance of hitting a bridge

,forgetting its up.
Just recently on CPC the d.t started banging on about this ,said if he see a stobart truck with it up he rings it in,you will be getting a phone call![]()
I just ignore it to be honest, previous poster may of been told that who knows, but I’ve only ever been told of height why they want mid lift down.
At least that makes sense. I heard the RDC Chinese whisper version.
I had no idea messing with the lift axle raises/lowers the ride height. Will have to remember that one.

Why cant co op be classed as supermarket work?
Because it’s not. It’s inconvenience store work…
shame that 3 depots are closing though

We get told this at COOP too. It’s only Scania’s that affect the ride height. Been told not to run with lift axle up on double deck trailers and 26t rigid lorrys.

I drop mine when empty when overtaking some flash frilly curtain truck going up hills , just to pretend I am loaded
In reality my bactros couldnt pull a skin of a rice pudding
Who in their right mind would want to work for tesco, regardless of what they pay? People think co-op pays well but you graft for it, I think it can be classed as bottom end supermarket work, just like tesco…!

COOP does not pay that we’ll if you happen to work at Avonmouth, (Norberts) and you are right, some days it’s hard graft.
I wonder how much ND are paying in AV, iv heard co-op direct are on £30k+ class 1/2…!?

£25719 per year
£2143 per month
£1668 take home per month
The Wincanton drivers TUPED over from Portbury are on, so I have been told, £5000 to £7000 more. Hopefully When the new ASDA DC opens just down the road they will need drivers. Norberts better up the pay or they may suffer.
For some reason ND Avonmouth are on less than ND Andover. Was going to transfer but won’t even save the difference in fuel!

Unless you sign up for purely night shifts before 6am, I wouldn’t expect to just be doing 1/2 drop runs to superstores with loading docks for Tesco.
A lot of Tesco work now is multidrop involving ■■■■■■■ around with urban trailers doing Tesco Express stores in city centres/petrol forecourts/residential streets, having to collect empties and crap from all of them along the way. Granted you get a risk assessment sheet for every store showing you exactly where to unload, approach etc. making life a bit easier, but in many ways it’s no different from co-op.

Interesting figures, I doubt any employer anywhere will suffer as it’s their market @ the moment so they’ll do as they please…
Wayne… any details on the Asda DC?
Opening date etc?

Can,t seem to find out much at all about the new ASDA DC. It’s going up fast and is BIG, but, the rumour doing the rounds at COOP is that NDL have put a bid in for the work. NDL used to pull ASDA trailers a few years back out of Chepstow so anything is possible.
Thanks, I will keep a eye on ND website. Don’t mind less money if I don’t have to bounce cages down the high street!
MADBAZ:
160 bays and only 3 available for unloading as the rest are chockablock being used as ad-hoc warehouse space.
iirc your average Tesco DC has around 160 doors, but only around 1/3rd are used for goods in
