'New' 2nd hand truck

We picked up a 15 plate truck at a very reasonable price and happy with the truck. Mr ■■■■ in the office is happy too except when you look at the truck in certain angles or light you can see previous companies details. I’m not overly fussed. Question is it possible to polish it out? Not by me may I add TIA

Probably won’t polish out, but instead of the time and cost of repainting, what about applying printed signage of your own choice to camouflage it.

Can be polished out using a buffer, and a light compound, G4, or a good renovation polish, or just get it wrapped.

Depends on the paint type, but invariably you’ll need a wet sand before owt else.

Solid colours, not too hard to do but you’ll need to compound, then polish at minimum or it’ll look a flat mess(skill level depending…)and bloody awful when the light hits due to all the abrasive marks left from the cutting stage.
It will want a polishing stage and seal at minimum on top of a cut to keep it looking clean and maintain the longevity of the finish/protect against fade.

If we’re talking modern metallics, clear over base(lacquer over colour) it’s bit more tricky as the lacquer will have basically absorbed the imprint, as fade of clear coat is a natural given due to uv so it needs levelling so as in a way to take the eye off it and bring the surrounding coating in line, but unlike solid colours clear over base is applied very thinly so you have to be careful or its burnt through.

Normally best way is localised Wet sanding in both cases, followed by compounding(cutting), then a polishing stage, followed by a refinement stage.
The above would make for a solid base for future upkeep, once topped off with a good sealant coat you’ll be sorted.

If either is too much effort, you could wrap it…

Ooor If its just a shunter, break out the G3 concrete dust, fire up the hose pipe and maul that ■■■■■ down too primer with the rotary flat out [emoji38]

All excellent ideas many thanks. I’m going to recommend sign writing over old as all it is the web address on top section of cab. Sorted! Cheers guys
