Never worked so hard!

So, started my new job a week and a half ago on car transporters. All I can say is hats off to the guys doing this! I’m currently working out of Jaguar at Castle Bromwich moving cars about 15 miles to storage. I do 4 loads a day and 13hrs, but it’s non stop other than my break! Plus getting used to 4 nights out a week in a match box sized cab! Just hope the pay reflects this at the end of the month.

Hats of to yourself too.

Not the easiest of vehicles to load, huge with massive doors that won’t open enough because of the lorry safety rails, the most ridiculous and expensive wheel/tyre combinations and prone to wheelspin in the wet at the slightest provocation, but you already know that…well if you haven’t had the rain yet, enjoy… :smiling_imp:

“but it’s non stop other than my break” , yeap that’ll be called work . Sarcasm aside , a few more weeks and you’ll be one strapping like the rest of the lads . Stick at it and the coin will come .

I’ve lost a couple of stone in the past 6 months on this roping & sheeting lark, never felt lighter, down from about 16 stone a few years ago to 13 now. Bloody great, it’s ■■■■ being fat, it’s very hard work getting it off though as I ain’t got no will power, well I have but it ain’t SAS style.

Now if I could just stay off the strange then we be golden.

How come you’re out every night if you only go 15 miles?

Yes. How come?

He appears to live at Purfleet, so probably based thereabouts.

Ah, no, not in Purfleet anymore. Moved just outside Burton on Trent and working for Birway out of Willenhall. Out all week as where we unload has a curfew so I do 4 loads in and then load a 5th and park up 15mins from the delivery site. Maximises how many I can do in a day, but also means I get 11 hrs off every night and no dead mileage.

Hi what truck u in ? U in a rigid with car trailer?

Yes, Scania 6 car rigid with a car trailer.

Fair play dude! To be honest, one of those same load, same route, flat out all day jobs would do my nut in.
I had to move a certain commodity from one of our depot’s to 14 mile away, solid for 2 weeks until it was done. Hour to load it, hour to unload, strap it all down etc, 3 times a day plus driving back about 2 hours to base.
Was bloody glad to see the end of it and get back to my varied loads and venues!! :imp:
