Going back to the wheel studs and loose nuts
As I remember the bolts that prevent loss of torque and loosening wheels.
The device had a spring clip sandwiched between alternating threaded bolts and a outer case to protect the wheel nut.

Whats wrong with those cheap yellow pointers, well OK they don’t NEED to be in Circus Clown Dayglow Yellow, silver or even black would have been just as effective even for the numpties.

The pointers have to be the simplest device, takes seconds to spot a wheelnut problem, nothing to break or lose or leave you stranded at the roadside when it breaks.

They also indicate if one or more wheel hub and/or brake is badly overheating…this can be very useful for instance if one side of an axle is getting markedly hotter than the other side!!!
