been a member of this site for a while, but never posted, however i need some advice.just before christmas i was working on the back of a trailer in wellingborough.the job was to swivel some deck trailers that were down.i managed to rupture my ligaments in my left knee and was taken to hospital, given some mad tablets to take and crutches and told to rest for 3 weeks.on returning to work was told i was having a “back to work meeting” and hr would be involved.had the meeting on fri last week and was given a written warning for abscense even though i had a valid sick note from the hospital.this now puts me in the chance saloon regarding hr,where do i stand in contesting this firm and the rules they make up for themselves,ps and they didnt pay me either
Did you report the accident/injury?
yeah to the ops manager in another depot, where i had to abandom my truck before being taken to hospital.
Did he follow the correct procedure though? It should have been reported to the HSE due to you requiring more than 7 days off work.
It may be that you had best have a chat with the CAB. From what you say proceedures have not been followed correctly.
As a matter of interest what is - “swivel some deck trailers that were down.”

Yeah, that one had me puzzled too.

It took me a minute or two. Then I remembered the Palletline deckers.
Their second decks don’t raise or lower, they ‘swivel’ to vertical along the length of the trailer, in 3 or 4 sections. So if you’ve got tall stuff, you can swivel a top deck section. You then get a vertical divider along the centre line of your trailer.
I think that’s what he means.
I am assuming he had to change the deck orientation on a swivel deck trailer.

yeah its me lol, yeah ur bang on there simon, thats what they are.to be honest i was shown how to do it for 5 mins in the yard,in the dark and to be honest i still think its a two man job.its down right dangerous as the middle sections must weight a ton each.the reason i had to do them was the warehouse staff at h…, said “we are not allowed on them as its too dangerous”.

Dave! Homebase, take the p1s$ pal, and Bolger too! Seek legal advise ASAP! I take it you didn’t go O.T. Sunday? Fighting the murderers?
Look for a new job, why put up with ■■■■ when theres good firms out there.
I assume you filled in the on-site accident book??
On the disciplinary side of things, Royal Mail also discipline on return from sickness even with a sick note. If they class it as self inflicted they’ll do you. Ask to see the accident book from the date you reported it and ask for a copy of the report in the accident book. What’s the firms policy on sick pay? If they haven’t followed their own policies you may have a chance. However, a firm i used to work for suddenly produced letters that had never exsisted to try and prove they had done things right. Go see CAB, or most lawyers do a free 30 mins, may be worth looking om google to find em. There is one in Wellingborough that deals with your kind of issue. I’m local to you, so feel free to pm me and i’ll give you the firms name
Speak to a personal injury solicitor!
Can’t stand it when firms take the micky like this, so you had an accident, stuff happens no harm no foul but then you go back and they try and discipline you for th etime off & don’t pay you, WTF?
I’d sue them just because they’re being knobs.
