Need help with one of my drivers

this is like listening to one of those relaxing cd sounds of wooshing waves… :astonished:

I cant cope, Evil you are a special type of limping ■■■■■■■ :grimacing:

You think you’ve heard lots of whooshing noises so far just wait until Dozy comes on to give his advice!

Rentadent:

all you small firms must be like this expecting us drivers to be truckwashers and now ■■■■ firemen he should do what I did and tell you to ■■■■ off like I do this all the time now after being run ragged by stobards all that time and I still havnt been tuped.

There appears to be a distinct silence from him

Punchy Dan:
Wow can’t belive how many take it seriously .

+1

Some proper dozy people about.

Boom tish

Would have been cheaper to give the daughter a couple of grand to get into her knickers rather than give the old man a job, probably best not to impregnate her though as that will cost you more in the long run, especially if you go back for more.

Not too long back, I took on a mate who was an experienced driver for large firm. I’d not worked with him before, but thought as he worked for a well known company, he can’t be too bad. Things didn’t start too bad, although I was a but concerned that he didn’t want to take his turn to wash the trucks on a Saturday, and no matter how much I tried to explain to him that the company must present a good image and by taking it in turn, everyone had most of their Saturday’s off. I gave up in the end, and just cut him some slack as he was a mate, although the word mate is starting to become a bit strained. Looking back though, I should have seen the warning signs! :unamused: Since then it’s been one problem after another, if it’s not his moaning, it’s late collections/deliveries, turning up at the wrong depots, constant calls for directions to places he’s already been, lost loads as he forgot to shut the doors, damaged loads as he hasn’t secured them properly, and don’t even get me started on the damage he’s caused. Basically I’m pulling my bloody hair out with him…

But the latest episode just beggars belief, as all I did was ask him to carry a fire extinguisher in his cab, for his safety and as a requirement for our insurance. He just went nuts though, you’d have thought I’d just impregnated his daughter. I just can’t understand what the big deal is with this request, and feeling now that I’ve made a huge mistake… However, what can I do about him? I can’t sack him as he’s sort of a mate, but at the same time the contract I’ve got is turning to crap with his mistakes and just isn’t profitable with him on-board.

Any suggestion would be appreciated, and I mean ANY SUGGESTIONS! :grimacing:

I share your experience. I encountered a similar situation many years ago, albeit in a different industry. But the end result was that I had a business to run. For me, it was a case of sitting down and putting my position forward and inviting some open criticism from him.

Very soon afterwards we parted company, yet maintaining a friendship. For me, ever since that time, I will never employ, or even recommend a friend for a position of employment. Hope that helps.

For those who apparently STILL haven’t got it, I will say to the OP…

This is a corker EB but there’s just one issue with the driver in question.
You mentioned porking his daughter, do you think he’d be capable of evolution and reproduction?

Congratulations on the thread of the year and I doubt it will be beaten, but a lot thought you were serious and some still do.
