Need agency work but don't have a business account!

I am based in the Warrington area but currently having problems finding an Agency who take on Limited drivers without a business account. Bad credit rating has resulted in me being refused a business account by my bank. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, how did you get round it?

Cashplus Business … Google it.

Pre-paid so don’t think there is any credit check. Cost about £20 for account set up.

Get debit card and online banking. Been using it 2 years and no major problems.

Co-Op bank

I think the real question is why do you HAVE to have a business account, and not just a personal account? Are the Agency saying that they will only pay into a business account, and not a personal account?

I think it’s because the Limited company accounts need to be separate from the business accounts. If you get it paid into a personal account then that is a salary and subject to all the normal tax crap. Into a business account for a Limited company then you have to declare to HMRC, so the Agency has covered their ■■■.
I had no problem with Barclays or Lloyds opening an account.

Yes. Most agencies want a business account. Then they make the payment to your company name. Thanks for all your replies. I will give them a go.

Try natwest. I had bother due to having a poor credit history and they were great, they do an account called a foundation account which is aimed at people with a poor history although they don’t seem to advertise it anymore. Book an appointment and go and see them in person, that worked for me.

You could always try keeping the personal account but change your name by deed poll to “Mr Itchyfeet Limited”. Ya never know!

I got one through barclays but I also have my current account with them, took about 10 days to set up

Thanks Calsdad… I tried Cashplus Business. £49 charge but immediately accepted. I’m sorted now. Cheers!

…So when an invoice doesn’t get paid, you’ll be advised to “claim it as a tax loss” instead of two indivuduals, one taking the other to the small claims court for unpaid PAYE wages… :smiling_imp:
When someone quibbles about how you get paid, then the chances are you are going to have some hassle over pay sooner or later… :bulb:
