Need Advice

Hi guys I have had a test today for class 1. Unfortunetly I failed with 14 faults including 2 serious faults aswell. I have had my class 2 for ages now but I haven’t driven that yet. I actually don’t know what to do should I book some extra training or apply for retest or what is the best course of action should I take in this situation. I would say my training instructor was Sound 1st and 2nd day I had one instructor 3rd and test day I had another instructor. I can’t fault anyone of them they were both sound. I took my test in automatic full artic. And the test was in Bradbury. Manchester is busy Alright and there were so many tight corners to be fairly honest my head was battered on test day I wasn’t nerves or anything but I just wanted to get it over with I felt like I been driving it all day long. It was very busy on the road small roads no matter where you go. Anyway what I want to know is what should I do. What is the best course should I take thanks. Should I save money and book in less crowded area or what to do I just don’t know what is right or wrong in this scenario

My normal advice is to stick with your original trainer. You are familiar with the vehicle and the routes - both of which are a step forward.

I have a couple of concerns; 14 minors + 2 serious is not a good outcome. Maybe you need a bit more training to improve the general standard.

The other concern is the continual change of instructor; IMO, not good.

The final option is to change trainer/area but this is not normally going to save you money short term but could, possibly, improve the prospects of a pass given the instructor change issue.

If the roads you are driving on are a worry to you then changing area’s might be a good idea. I did my training with Peter Smythe and my instructor got me familiar with all the potential test routes prior to test day so that was one worry that I did not have. The training was nicely spread 4 x 3.5 hour daily lessons with the test on day 5, which worked out nicely as on test day I felt ‘as ready as I’d ever be’ without feeling like I was suffering from driver fatigue.

Thanks for the replies. I don’t know whether its a good choice or not but I am thinking of looking for class 2 or c1 work on my 4 days off duty and built up some road experience and then maybe closer to crimbo look for another course or maybe next year. But its all depends whether there are class 2 or c1 jobs available out there or not.

Crazy…

Here’s how I view your situation… if you had only a half a dozen minors and a serious, Id say re-book that test asap and get that licence… But Id say you probably need more training, so I don’t think it would be any major issue changing trainer who uses a test centre thats less busy
