As far as I’m concerned, it’s a filter lane, the M74 becomes 2 lanes thereafter anyway.
Same as the M6 S/B at J8. There are signs overhead there though (just paint on the M74)
If it’s less than 3 lanes, unless there’s a physical restriction, feel free to use it.
