Nearly overtaken

What is it with Stobbies NOT flashing you back in, and no indictator thanks either if/when you flash them in? Is it company policy or something they aren’t allowed to flash-in/thank?

Anyway, knowing they never flash me in when I pass them, I normally do the ‘over compensating’ thing and leave a pretty big gap before coming back in… but yesterday couldn’t really see much outta my NS mirror due to the bloody sun, but gap between his shadow and my shadow looked big enough to me, so indicator on and slowly in I went… then he pops back out to the middle labe for about 5 seconds. Obviously wasn’t comfortable with the gap I left, looked fine to me though when he popped back on on my O/S. shrug

And on the subject of flashing in, the guys that flash you in right in front of them. I’ll stay out, and then they start flashing like you’re at a rave. Yes mate, I see you flashing me in… but I’ll stay out for now… see that hill we’re about to go up… I’ll probably lose a bit of momentum on it and you’ll be up my arse.

We should do away with bloody speed-limiters, problem solved

That’s something I’ve only ever noticed in the UK, the rather large number of trucks that flash you in when you’re no more than a meter or so in front of their bumper and if you don’t immediately co-operate and move over, they flash again and again like bulbs are going out of fashion.

I will flash you in when I think its a safe enough gap for me, if they don’t move then thats up to them.

Too many steering wheel attendants on the roads these days, probrably think their driving a car and don’t give toss about anyone else. I don’t flash anyone in anymore saves getting worked up about it.

Still give a double tap of the indicator if someone flashes me in though.

+1

Yep experience these too close cut ins on a regular basis (maybe 82kph is too slow but max im 84kph and that speeds just crazy).
I now usually flash them after they are a safe distance away which is long after they have pulled in as an ironic gesture.

Turners drivers get special treatment with extra engine retardation (if its safe to do so) as they have what appears to be a total fear of overtaking and wobble their way past before cutting in far to early.

I do make a special effort to flash in if being overtaken by an onslip, this lets the driver know theres a bmw joining at high speed and its safe to pull in and put some manners on the ■■■■■…

I’ve started pulling into the middle lane after they’ve ‘Taken my wipers off’, so I’ve got a safety gap, perhaps these Numpties will eventually get the message. (But I doubt it)

Expect less of people, not more, and your world will become more tolerable. And on the flip side, when somebody does something you didn’t expect (such as leave a nice long gap) you’ll be pleasantly surprised and not irate. Keep on trucking.

Being a relative newbie, I generally over compensate when overtaking unless I get a flash! I hate it when people pull back in right on my front bumper so why would i do that to somebody else!? I always flash people back in, I sometimes flash twice incase the driver hasn’t seen the initial flash!

With regards to “dancing indicators” what is deemed over the top!? I generally just give a left right left, but on days when I haven’t seen many trucks or traffic, I may give a left right left right left!!! I have seen some drivers get really excited and give left right, left right, left right, left followed by a quick blast of the hazards!!! That would possibly constitute as a bit over the top!!!

Yes, please don’t go over the top with the dancing indicators, it confuses the car drivers coming up along lane two, who are not just looking at you

must admit I think it is common courtesy and therefore when I do drive I will flash you in or say thanks if you have taken the time to let me know I am passed.

you reap what you sow and all that.

Doing nights I notice that people are far more gentlemanly driving on nights than days.

I often get the impression car drivers sat in the middle lane are not looking at me at all judging by the distance I sometimes have to travel before someone moves or lets me out!! Wake up middle lane hoggers (funnily enough it’s generally an Audi or BMW)!!!
