Don’t know if they still have it but Tescos units used to have a whistle that sounded IF you opened door with handbrake off !

The Renault I drive has that.

Saratoga:
Stobarts drivers have to take the keys out every time they leave the cab. I take it that ensures the engine is off and handbrake is on? Clearly they’ve never had to work with a vehicle that’s got RunLock fitted

Shouldn’t be coupling up with engine running anyhow, a little birdy told me it causes abs/ebs faults.

worse, reproducing, creating more - in both numbers and quality - stupid morons

Are you suggesting evolution should’ve been helped out and he should’ve been removed from the gene pool? Think of the mess

If you were still pullin’ that Bartrums trailer, don’t think you’d have been able to tell, it was such a [zb] heap anyway lol.

I just think everybody should be sterilised at birth and have to prove that they’re ok to reproduce, ie, not a sponger, not a muppet etc.

If I sound a little like Hitler, it’s because I’m due my annual shave, normality will be resumed…

Love it!!!

Bring in all the rules you like, you’ll never legislate against stupidity.

This is so true. That’s the trouble with health and saftey. These people would have been killed or maimed due to stupidity at an early age now they continue putting others at risk much longer.

Natural Selection. Weed out the idiots early on stops production of more idiots. What happens when an Idiot and another Idiot procreate?. They produce more idiots that are even stupider than they are. In no time at all we will be over run by a new breed of super idiot, then we are all screwed.

Are these idiots not already running the country ■■?

I believe you may have a very valid point there.

Simple idea that worked !

The trailer brakes automatically come on when the red airline is removed on tesco trailers, made shunting them so much easier lol

Reversing cameras are a great idea… I’m actually thinking about fitting them to our trailers now.

Trouble with reversing cameras and most technology it makes you lazy. You don’t notice the dozy ■■■■ who was there but isn’t now.
I’ll check why the cameras not working once I back on this bay.

Reversing sensors not brilliant but reversing cameras make life easier but should not be completely relied on.

I have already been crushed by two trucks at work and it is not an experience I wish to repeat. I was standing next to mine when another went past too close. The curtain-sider on the other truck caught my arm and removed it from it’s socket, it spun me around, and squeezed me out between our two trucks and tossed me down in front of mine. My stomach wrote off my own trucks’ drivers door; they had to cut that out (the door, not my stomach. I still have my stomach). Didn’t have any broken bones but my arm wasn’t in the right place and it took a lot of entenox to get that sorted

I do agree with the previous points about reversing when people are nearby, they just don’t understand how their moments of inattention can cause so many problems

The Renault I drive has that.

most, if not all, modern trucks have an audible warning when the door is opened with the park brake off

if drivers ignore this, why would they suddenly listen to another one? :unamused:

Am I right in thinking you don’t need a reversing bleeper dubery thingy by law?

Not sure if it’s law or just guidelines that say you should have one, a lot go off when the lights are on though to prevent them operating at night.

a certain driver that used to work for Ryder Systemcare in Derby used to drive around all day with the side lights on for this very reason

he was affectionately known as ‘beep beep’

I’ve quite often upset those kind of systems as I drive with the sidelights on all the time anyway, have done for years now.

Mr B:
I got to yard today and to put trailer on empty bay. The next bay was out of action and a bloke doing repair so I got lined up opened doors. I jumped back in cab and started to back up when I realised I couldn’t see bloke no more.
I jumped out and went to check. The daft [zb] had his back to me and was talking on his phone while inspecting my bay!
Scary how close i was and how easy killing someone is in this job.

A very very similar thing happened when I worked at brakes in Thorpe years ago, a truck was reversing on a bay and somehow a fella ended up behind the truck and was near enough cut in half after getting squashed between loading ramp and back of the trailer.

Wasn’t allowed to reverse on site without a banksman after that
