And I guess that 50 years ago these now elderly Micra drivers were complaining about ‘wrinklys’ in Ford Pops and Hillman Minxes holding them up in their Ford 105E Anglias and Lotus Cortinas, one day it will be our turn to cause chaos to those behind us!

Pete.

You’ve reminded me how Asians used to hold up traffic in Nissan Bluebirds…

Honestly, I was picturing a light blue Nissan Bluebird when I wrote that! :open_mouth:

Happydaze:
Really? I didn’t think people would be so angry about a fish symbol :open_mouth: I don’t take offence at other people’s religious symbols, good luck to them…

I’m not offended by the fish symbol at all, I just take it as a warning sign that there is a nerd at the controls.

Shouldn’t there also be a “loaf of bread” symbol as well Trev !!! Maybe “H” could confirm,he’s been conspicuos by his absence to-day !! Cheers Dennis.

I had a 105E Anglia Pete.It wouldn’t live with a Hillman Minx especially the 1725cc engined one’s.
Cheers Dave.

I’m not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

Ive got last years NT sticker in the windscreen of my DAF 105 XF. Might as well annoy everyone on both sides. No i dont drive a Nissan Micra they are too slow for me

Hahahaha my driver mates and I call the Micra the devils car for the above reasons, is it just me or are they always the ones that plod along, let you hang in the outside lane half way past and then pull away and slow down again ■■

‘…I did the ‘fish thing’ for a while … it drew so much animosity …’

‘…Really? I didn’t think people would be so angry about a fish symbol …’

To expand a little, it wasn’t outright anger but I did find that liberties would be taken on the road.

Tailgating, carve-ups and an all-round greater ‘need’ to get in front of who they (seemingly) thought was a soft-touch out for a ‘nice dithery drive’ increased. I interpreted this as my sticker somehow spoiling their fun on their road by challenging them by rubbing-in my ‘Christian softness’ [sic] and being in front like a carrot is a challenge to a donkey.

OK, it’s fact that Jesus told mankind that it is right to be forgiving & have grace, etc toward all human beings. But is it reasonable to be affronted by such ‘qualities’ in those bold enough to declare their efforts in adhering to such decent principles and then trample through that individual either consciously or subconsciously as though they are a lower caste of human and specifically invite humility as dished out by the scrupled rude

Regardless of one’s spiritual belief, etc, I recommend experimenting with a fish sticker in the back window to sense a wholly different attitude from other road users. Five quid to your granny says you’ll get treated with less respect all round.

There are lots of cowardly, sheep-like road bullies in their tin-sheaths out there …but since when have hard-nuts put fish zaps or National Trust zaps in their rear windows - neither of which makes a person carte-blanche worthy of unbridled hatred  :exclamation:

"On the other hand, if you’re working “normal” hours, enjoy your pair of four day weeks courtesy of Christianity! "

their snothing Christian about Easter ot Xmas
both of these were robbed from the pagans

hitch:
‘…there’s nothing Christian about Easter or Christmas - both of these were robbed from the pagans…’

Aah, that old chestnut quibble about ‘dates’ - which in those times on Earth were neither prioritised nor universally recorded with the accuracy demanded by today’s wriggling pedant.

Meanwhile, ‘…robbed…’?: Surely a more meaningful focus is the central ‘character’ in the examples who gave free & beautiful stuff away with His life

He was certainly not a smacked-up or otherwise eerie Pagan but a Jew but the original Christian killed in ghastly fashion for little more than entertainment, narrowmindedness & knee-jerk demand for blood-■■■■ as perfectly exemplified by all mankind throughout all ages to include both then and now?

Finally, wasn’t it the same very special gifts of love, grace & forgiveness, etc that also provided the civilised world a datum upon which to record the timespan of years with which to record seemingly precious ‘dates’ - or did a leaderless & otherwise nameless bunch of unaccountable tree worshippers wrap that monkey too?

Happykeith was that you in Banbury High Street on Saturday with the loudspeaker?

Our definitions of FACT clearly differ

Indeed Happy Keith is clearly using a very liberal interpretation of the word fact there.

waynedl:

Happy Keith:
‘…OK, it’s fact that …etc…’

‘…Our definitions of FACT clearly differ…’

An alternative definition as originally proposed & hereby challenged being what?

switchlogic:
‘…Indeed Happy Keith is clearly using a very liberal interpretation…’

‘…Very liberal…’ meaning what?

Maybe it’s not to offend minority and, I’m guessing, other scratchily assorted & largely far less proven theories?

Doesn’t that amount to no-one in particular criticising a historically known person whilst themselves offering mankind very little leadership for common good?

If that’s the case, do they need to be more PC, respectful to a majority and liberal in attitude to avoid hypocrisy in communication with others and in a way that they might wish to be treated?

Also, it is accurately said that the UK has emerged to be an ultra-liberal society - so isn’t being liberal with interpretation a contemporary & social norm exempt from Christians who are often hoped to roll over at the first hint of controversy?

Is it to confront peaceful folk simply for the sake of it from behind a keyboard and very little else?

Or, is it simply to deny proven history - without an alternative rationale being proffered or latitude being granted in a belief of self before others being the main tenet of one’s self-defined rights?

Back on thread: What’s the real issue behind National Trust members irritating professional(?) lorry drivers? Is it the latter’s ill-preparation in anticipating their presence - along with their very predictable behaviour during a religiously based Bank Holiday period for which they likely gained extra pay and/or extended TOIL?

Happy Keith I think the meaning of my very liberal comment may have passed you by completely. Good try though 5/10 for effort.

I saw one of these last summer. Raised a smile

My partucular favorite.

I saw/got stuck behind Doris in her Ctroen AX earlier all the way down Fish Hill towards Broadway. Dozy old bat thought 15-20 mph was fast enough downhill in percect conditions, 35mph max on the level towards Evesham. I stayed behind down Fish Hill due to double white lines but that didn’t stop a pair of Subaru ■■■■■ enlargers from gunning past. Old Doris shook her head when I overtook her as if the elderly have some right to hold everyone up.

I saw a green Astra full of old dears parked on the side of the slip road from the M56 (Chester side) heading up to the Pops yesterday.

I was coming along the link road from the Manchester side as I eased off to give them room, the old giffer driving saw that as his chance to rejoin the carriageway and do a ‘u’ turn in my direction!

I rang the Police on my handsfree as I saw the car and it’s mystified driver and passengers set off for Stockport on the wrong side of the Motorway.

No idea if he made it to Tatton Park but he should come to our place for a job, he would fit right in…
