National Road CPC Starter for 10

Hi Everyone, first a confession… I have been lurking on these boards for a while gleening loads of useful information but this is my first post so please be gentle! I’m sitting my National Road CPC in June and wondered if anyone could clarify something for me. I know loads of drivers who have given me an answer but well they all say something different! So here goes.

Would this Schedule be legal regarding WTD

30 mins other work
30 mins Drive
2 hours other work
3 hours Drive = 6 hours working time

30 mins Working Time Directive Break (or could it be 15 mins as another 15 min break is taken before 9 hours shift time is reached?)

30 mins Drive
30 mins P.O.A
30 mins Drive = 4.5 hours Driving

30 mins Driving break (i.e 15 mins to count from first break + 30 mins = 45 mins break)

30 mins Drive
30 mins P.O.A
3hr 30 mins Drive
15 min other work

Total Drive = 8 hrs 30 min
Total break = 1 hr
Total working time = 12hrs 45 min
Shift Length = 13 hrs 45 min

I was just getting a bit confused so any help would be great. Thankx

Forum with some useful stuff and Forum for questions on drivers hours

I’ve moved this into the Safety and Law forum so that ROG’s homework gets marked.

  It’s also nearer to the headmaster’s study so that ROG doesn’t have too far to walk when he’s sent there. :grimacing: :stuck_out_tongue:

The day looks good to me, you could have a 15 minute break instead of the 30 minutes for the 6 hour rule if you prefer.

As your working time is over 9 hours you’re required to have a total of at least 45 minutes break/breaks (WTD rules) interrupting the working time so a 15 minute break at or before 6 hours working time and another 30 minute break to reset the driving time would be sufficient to keep you legal.

SparGirl:
30 mins other work
30 mins Drive
2 hours other work
3 hours Drive = 6 hours working time

30 mins Working Time Directive Break (or could it be 15 mins as another 15 min break is taken before 9 hours shift time is reached?)

30 mins Drive
30 mins P.O.A
30 mins Drive = 4.5 hours Driving

30 mins Drive
30 mins P.O.A
3hr 30 mins Drive
15 min other work

Total Drive = 8 hrs 30 min
Total break = 1 hr
Total working time = 12hrs 45 min
Shift Length = 13 hrs 45 min

By the way unless I’ve calculated it wrong you’ve done:
Total Drive = 9 hours.
Total Break = 1 Hour.
Total Working Time = 11 hrs 15 mins.
Total Shift = 13 hrs 15 min.

I’m sure you realise this means you’re having a reduced daily rest

You’re knowledge of the regulations seems reasonable but for maths you get “Could try harder” :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
