Probably been posted before as it’s 18 months old but… Very Nasty. And so many people just didn’t get out and help.
The thing I find really annoying about this terrible event is how fast the line of rubber kneckers builds up on the other side causing delays so they can have agood look.
Blind side had nothing to do with this because the car was not dawdling in that position, the truck driver was passing the car and not paying attention so I have no sympathy for him and lots for the car driver.
Studying it over and over a few times I don’t think the truck driver could even have been paying attention to his surroundings in any way, he was following a driver in an identical truck so probably on the CB, not only does he push the car on the shoulder, he carried on into the shoulder crushing the car before realising his error.
Lets face it … this has happened or will happen to all of us at some pont, it only takes the slightest distraction to let the truck wander. I am the first to admit that on several occasions during my life swayed into the next lane and I know it has always been my fault and has been on my concience for ages after, luckily no damage was done at any time, just pride dented.
Any driver who denies they have ever drifted is a liar.

Very true. I think we can all say we have had moments of ‘unprofessionalism’ but generally all is well.
The rubber necking goes on so much in this country. It can also impede the emergency services if they are trying to get to the scene from the other carriageway.
The number of times I have had to wonder which side the accident was on because there was as much of a tailback from the rubbernecking as there was from the accident.
I agree that from the limited view of the incident it certainly looks like the truck driver was not aware of the car at all. I don’t think the blindspot was a factor. Just coincidence that the Porsche was in a potential blindspot.
Its the way he keeps on verging left into the hard shoulder after what looked like the moment of impact just before crossing the hard shoulder line (nothing heard? Felt?) and then not only crushes the car, but totally loses the cab on what looks like a bounce off the barrier, effectively running his cab over with the trailer?
It’s as if he had a stroke/heart attack at the wheel.
What was the casualty result of all this? I can’t imagine he fell asleep when already in the fast lane!
Dunno about everyone else, but I’m on tenterhooks when in the rh lane of a two laner like the A14 for instance.
Thought I was tripping with that bloody music.

Don’t know what the casualty result was. At first I thought the trailer had flattened the Porsche. I guess it would need to be correlated with a report around the time.
I read about this somewhere as to the cause and circumstances surrounding it. The key points i remember (it was a fair while ago!) were that the guy who crashed had been following his mate who was in the first bulk tipper and who strangely didnt stop either, obviously dose’nt use his mirrors to much then! The driver who crashed wiping out the car had been following the first guy for about 9 hours driving from 5 in the morning or there abouts after some tips (cant remember how many). It was concluded that fatigue was a factor in the accident. 9 hours is a long time to be following some one else.
Those facts certainly tie in with what we see, although only they know how much truth there was in the ‘9 hours following’ part.
But yes 9 hours is a long time to be looking at the back of a wagon
The description on the video suggests that the truck had moved out the allow the porche to join the motoway then the porche had sat in the blind spot, also as soon as the truck contacts the car the hits the stear axle braking the steering linkage and leves the truck with no steering control hence the truck carrying on to the barrier and then being bounced back
This has been posted on here before…
The truck didn’t crush the car, if you look through the film after the after the rollover , you can see the car on the hard shoulder ahead, and the driver gets out and walks back toward the truck.
IIRC it was posted that the truck driver was new to the company and shadowing his mate to learn the job. I’m pretty certain the truck driver only sustained minor injuries.

I was going to suggest something similar, we can’t see what was going on prior to the accident, it looked to me as if the two tippers had moved over to let the puddle jumper on the motorway, tipper number two went into the middle lane when his mate did and came back at the same time, unfortunately he hadn’t looked in his mirrors and spotted the Porsche, the rest is history.
Gotta be a heart attack or some such, there’s no way he would of kept veering left if he wasn’t seriously ill.
