I think this is all down to trampers, in the main, with a set unit, and spending so much [zb] time in them… we want to feel at home in them.
ermm sorry im a “tramper” but don’t feel the need for a name plate either in my truck or my home. i can appreciate guys having a go at making their cab a bit more homely etc but its not for me. i prefer an uncluttered tassel curtain (basic supplied ones ok for me) free cab with most stuff stored away safely, all i have on show is me map book and satnav, phone clamped to dash and tachtrak clamped to dash and my work folder lands where i throw it.its different when i park up at night then all work related stuff either gets put out of sight or turned off INCLUDING the works phone.then im
Some cabs do look very nice when you see the interiors but i wont spend my money on doing one up.
i use to have my name in the windscreen, and i was surprised at how many people actually called me by that name…just cos it was there. so it does make a difference, and makes us more friendly.
Nowdays i cant be bothered to even clean the cab, inside or outside, and i dont have many nights out anymore ( that could change soon)
Ive just had 3 weeks holiday, every tom, ■■■■ abdul has use my truck, and thought it was the local rubbish bin..and thats how its gonna stay..and i showed it to my t/m..his answer...oh, just throw it in the bin`…bloody agency drivers have a lot to answer for…well on our firm anyway…
I was never really into name plates but got one recently with a british flag on it just so people know im english, as Im the only one where I work, all the rest are eastern europeans. Have no problem with them, by the way, we’re all working abroad, its an Irish company, its just that when abroad most english or irish drivers don’t bother talking to me thinking im polish etc.
Do drivers have nameplates because there is so much to remember these days - tacho laws, WTD, etc, etc, that they sometimes forget their own name - Who am I

Slightly off topic
Not all agency drivers are like that I work for an agency and I hate getting in to a dirty untidy cab. I drive all sorts, from bin lorries to artics and I would not dream of leaving a cab in an untidy state. After all it does not take long to clear up, does it
just thought I had to say something on behalf of us lowly agency scum!!!
