As someone suggested in the Name and Shame; Grumpy Goods In Staff thread, perhaps it’s easier to name some of the few good ones. I the short time I spent doing supermarkets/shops I didn’t find many, but I have to praise the boys on security at the Palletline gate in Brum (Nights - can’t speak for the dayshift!) - Lee and John usually. Friendly and helpful with a sense of humour. Surely they can’t really be the only ones!
Not really goods in but I went to the gas works on the Old Kent Road the other day and the security bloke was spot on. Friendly, polite and helpful.
Dixons at winthorpe. Very friendly and helpful, always ready for a laugh and joke with drivers. Part of Knowhow
Everywhere I go the goods in staff and security seem to be courteous and polite, maybe that’s because that’s how I treat them.
I have found the lads at the Palletline Hub at Birmingham and London Perivale to be good guys that do not give drivers any bad attitude, the London hub is where you give them your phone number and they call you in when they are ready to back load you.
Found the young ladies at Goods in at Morrisons Bridgwater to be pleasant.
The same at Dixons Rdc at Newark, attractive young ladies to flirt with.
Pets at Home at Stoke on Trent, and Northampton, never had any dilemas or problems, drivers allowed in their works canteen, for a cheap hot meal, the Stoke one has Oatcakes with bacon or sausage, like a pancake, if you have missed breakfast, they vend those.
Great guys at Hazchem depot in Rugby, good laugh there with the other drivers, and a fit blonde Welsh lady that bakes her own cakes and gives them to drivers and staff there. She is a night driver.

Sharrocks at preston on the nightshift, always friendly and make conversation, even with me!
As Toby said Morrisons Bridgwater have some pleasant staff and Sainsburys at Emerson’s have friendly ones too.
Cengage Learning in Andover, very pleasant warehouse staff.
Yusen Logistics, Swindon, good bunch of lads.
Spicers office suppliers near Cambridge, it is over a railway line then you wait for the loud speaker to call you in to tip, great bunch of lads and no hassles or dramas.
B&Q in Worksop, everything about that place is fine, from booking in at security to when you get tipped, always try and get you out without any fuss. Im not sure if i found it like that because i was in there 2-3 times a week and had a good relationship with them, but i found them very good from the 1st time i went there. If everywhere was like this place, the job would be alot better.
I know some of you may disagree but …
Toy’s R Us in Coventry were always a good bunch to me, Argos in Castleford, Woolworths in Swindon (I know they treat most drivers like crap but if you actually took time to befriend them you’ll find they are really good guys).
Over here … Ben & Jerry’s at both VT plants. Pacific paper in Wilmington MA, Hanna paper in Mansfield MA, Topps candy in Scranton PA and Hershey chocolate.

I agree totally with that out of all the ones Ive done Worksop has to be the best one out all the B+Q rdcs
If anybody ever delivers to aspen pumps in hailsham east sussex come and say hello.
We have a kitchen and drivers are always using them to get coffee and chill for abit. The goods in staff are all nice people, plus i’m always out there nagging drivers about tacho and other driving stuff

Turning up at all the Tesco’s without the ‘Booking References’ can cause lots of bother ( understandably).
However I have found that the above three RDC’s still allow me in and sort out the problem with the minimum of fuss and the maximum of common sense and civility.
( There are often very good reasons why the driver does not have the Booking Reference when he sets off on his journey.)

Unlike the bakery on Devon Street nextdoor; Their idea of helpful is to leave a liberal dusting of flour all over the floor and expect us to pull 1t pallets up a slope into their premises. The suntanned member of staff also looks at you like you’re retarded for breaking the pallet down rather than giving yourself a hernia.
On the bright side…
Anstees’ Bakery in Bristol, cracking place. Cup of tea waiting, a laugh and a young lass with cracking Bristols makes us a lovely sandwich (sausage between the baps you might say ).
Clarks’ Pies in Bristol, always a large pasty, large sausage roll and a meat pie for driver and mate.
Pointless taking a packed lunch on our Bristol run, as the customers make it as you go around.
Yearsleys Avonmouth are the best. Friendly goods in bloke, friendly efficient tipping staff, they tip so fast i cant even squeeze in a 15 minute break. Infact Im so impressed im gonna email their boss and suggest they get a pay rise.
Their showers are filthy though I stepped out feeling more soiled than when I stepped in.
