Hi
I’m currently doing my cat c training for theory and was looking into jobs I found one for double decker nights which pays well and looks right for me I phoned the chap and asked him about the job and explained I don’t have any experience with Arctics however my training company are sure that it is good to have the both licences. After reading many posts I’m aware that most company’s require a certain amount of experience. I had a lengthily conversation with the man who is advertising the job he told me I should not bother taking both and just take the rigid as most company’s will put me through the arctic after 6 months. And many won’t let me touch there £100,000 rig without 6 months ex which is quite understandable
I’m going out with the driver next week to get a feel of a double decker Which I’m really excited about And will find out more. the training company keeps phoning me and asking me to sort the deposit for the arctic however I don’t feel that even with 16hrs on the rigid then strait into another 16hrs on the arctic I will pass I can get pass protect at an extra £500 but it might not be needed at the moment(don’t want to waste money) is it better to just do my rigid and drive for 6 months then take the arctic or just do it all in 1 hit will it make me more employable
Who is your training company??
Sounds very much like the sales tactics of a Broker rather than a training company - check out the company very thoroughly before you part with a single penny, visit them, see the vehicles and set up and have a driving assessment before you pay anything.
Good luck with it.

Training for CE straight after C is common practice. It’s NOT common practice for employers to pay for upgrades - yes it happens, but not all the time.
I would politely ask your training company to cease the phone calls.

If you’re confident, have a deal & do em both,i had 3 lessons in rigid & passed & 3 in artic & passed, still can’t drive for ■■■■,just had a leg up from the old man,he let me hitch up & reverse in yard as a kid, maybe you have someone in your life like this ? Teaching my 14 year old now !

This also go for C£ as it does open more door for you a lot of company wont pay for upgrades they like you to have them
Dont froget you will need a digi card as well if you dont already have 1
Thanks
It’s not a walk in the park I know and life is what you make of it
I think I’m going to do both as when I’m looking for jobs the employer see that I have the full Monty they might give me more of a chance to learn the arctic as to stepping into it with just the rigid and not even being able to give it a go
If you have both parts at least they can train you up
Ie insurance
To be honest I’m with a broker and I Havant found prices much different from going direct to a centre
The upside is they arranged finance for the whole thing 3k pretty cool with 4hrs ex training and two attempts at both tests

To add my two peneth , really does sound like a broker and if you read some of experiences on here they are loaded with problems and the sales tactics are a nearly always hard sell as they just want your money !! please if your looking to get your c+e go to a proper training company have a look its worth spending a bit of time now looking at places than parting with shed loads of money and getting problems later ,
You might want to go to an agency to get some experience , just explain that you have just passed and want some experience and can do a couple of days here and there and you might be able to impress a few places that will take you on after you pass your test if you prove your worth in a ridgid ■■
good luck with it all
