My problem, new driver

“Proper” blokes (and women) will be happy to help and share their experience. Bear in mind that they might have time pressures, so keep the questions to a minimum. As a qualified driver you have proved you have an ability to learn - and sometimes this might be by picking up knowledge as you go. Provided safety isn’t compromised, this should be fine.

Ask another driver a sensible question in a polite manner; if you don’t get an acceptable response you’ve just managed to find another driver not worth talking to. Generally, you’ll find that you’ll get sorted without much hassle. Use your loaf and ask sensible questions of the right person.

All the best, Pete

when I started at my current firm (only 3 months ago), on my first day I was given a transit van to deliver with. A little frustrating for a CE driver.

Frustrating■■? :open_mouth: More like embarrassing mate, and why you haven’t let that slip until now!
But don’t you worry pal, I won’t be forgetting that in a hurry!

To the OP, agencies are scum so don’t bother complaining to them, they don’t care, so just change agency!
As for the bellend driver who didn’t want to go out with a Newbie, he’s just an ignorant ■■■■■■■ who can’t remember that he too once had a first day in a truck! So don’t blame yourself or worry about it, just crack on and keep trying. Continue to ask questions and be keen to learn, as at some point a DECENT experienced driver will recognize your willingness to learn and help your out…

Best of luck, and that’s SIR to you pal!

I was glad to be in the transit Beezle. it was refreshing to remember my left knee being jammed against the dashboard with the seat fully back! I also enjoyed the two inch blindspot mirrors and some weird pedal thing on the left of the footbrake.

After a while I tried pressing it to see what it did. It appears to aid the gear changing process. Most peculiar.

It was a stark reminder of the first rung of the ladder!

As probably mentioned it’s rare to come across a waste of organs of this magnitude. Most drivers will enjoy taking on a fresh new recruit (I do  )and sharing wisdom, adventures and a lot of BS.

Simply forget it or write a complaint, probably forget it is best in the hope your paths cross again when your not so green.

Life’s full of set backs, dust yourself down and take your class 1.
Or find out where he lives and take pictures of him asleep.
