My old dears view of truck drivers

She is 82 and fit as a fiddle, goes into town on the bus every day. She says the only people who stop to let her cross the road are lorry drivers. Well done all and keep it up. It is appreciated.

I’ll always stop at a crossing and do my bit to try and change peoples perception of us.

Alas there are some professionals still in the industry.

It only takes one…!

Saw a brenntag driver in stranraer today wait for a funeral cortège to pass before going on to the roundabout to get to his next drop/pickup. Well done that man

Long time ago now, but I remember a truck driver doing the same after several cars had kept going, stopping the cortege from getting into cemetery, for my mates little boys funeral.
A small act of kindness maybe, but on such an awful day it didn’t go un-noticed by many of us who were there.

I remember a situation a few years ago where a courteous driver stopped to let a kid cross the road. Unfortunately he had not observed an overtaking motorcycle.
The courteous driver was charged.Great care is needed when you instigate others.

Good point, how many times do you stop at a zebra crossing to allow pedestrians to cross and some nutter flies across from the other side nearly colliding with the pedestrians.

The courteous driver was charged

Charged with what under the Road Traffic act?. not saying your wrong but given the scenario you described I would love to know what he got charged with, just on the scant information you have given I cant see any reason for him being charged… but I am not the CPS … so any more info would be helpful

Our local funeral director always walks in front of the hearse and has to cross the A6 to the parish church . He says that it is always a lorry that stops the traffic .

I find that the police always stop a bus or a lorry when they need to halt traffic. Car drivers are too much of an unknown quantity.
