My old boss in Holland has restored this

…1960 Magirus-Deutz Jupiter.

Gijs Van Maanen sold the company, where I worked for three years, back in the late 90’s to a holding company, but the name lives on to this day, still doing the meat and fish to Italy & Spain.
This old Maggie is in the colours of when his father started the business.

Very nice.

Very nice.

It does look smart doesn’t it.

I reckon he got bored sitting at home counting his money :unamused:

KW, that’s a superb restoration. It looks like brand new!

Looks spot on my friend. I must say though, it does have a bit of VW beatle about it with the bonnet and wings (lights).

Andy

Beaded seat covers. Remember when there was a period when nearly everyone had one. Drivers who had been wearing shorts would climb out the cab and display what looked like the worst case of cellulite ever on the back of their thighs.

I thought the same. 1960 is much, much later than the time the original beetle was designed though.

Check out the following link as well - there’s some interesting stuff on the web about the company.

What an excellent restoration and brilliant pics too.
That has to be as near to showroom condition as you can get- absolutely amazing.

Gijs Van Maanen’s brother owns Ematra, which is next door to Van Maanen’s yard in Barneveld, and specialises in body and paint jobs on trucks,so I suspect the restoration was done there.

Ematra also did that Scania T-cab Longline conversion a few years ago that was run by an O/D who pulled food tanks out of Amsterdam for Eikelenboom.

that awesome keith ,them trucks had great styling theres some good maggie deutz pics on lkw-infos
