My first time on a ferry

I’m popping on the overnite ferry to belfast with 2 drop bangor and ballymoney. I know there’s something I have to do with digital tacho regarding rest on ferries can anyone please explain I drive a iveco
Many thanks

As your going on the Ferry make a manual entry from the menu, to go “out of scope ferry” its a little boat sign. As you come off put yourself back in scope.

cheers

how does that affect my daily rest period

You have to have 11 hours rest plus the time it took you to get on and off the ferry.
If it took a ten minute movement to get on and a twenty minute movement to get off and park you need to have 11 hours + 10 + 20 = 11 hrs 30 mins

That can include the 2 hours I sat on the docks before boarding? Do ihave to be exact with the time it took to board and disembark?

by the way watch for the average speed cameras from belfast to bangor, although with traffic you should be alright, and there can be a mobile camera van usually between ballymena and ballymoney.normally sits where a dual carriageway comes down to a single lane.

Ferry or train breaks allow you to interupt your daily rest period no more than twice and for no more than 1 hour in total. And your total rest period must no less than 11 hours not including the time you were moving on or off the ferry or train.

Does that make any sense.

Thanks yes it does I put myself on break/ferry when a joined the queue at birkenhead about 19.30 so my daily rest can’t be over until 6.30.

Thanks for the speed camera warnings

As Wheel Nut says you can’t include the time you were moving in your daily break, so if you took 30minutes to get on and off the ferry then you need to add another 30 minutes to your break, so in your example you wouldn’t be able to start until 7:00am.

One nearly every day at the Glarryford Cross these days.

Not quite a simple as that.

Arrive in port, book on and join queue. Put tacho on Rest and enter end country from menu.

Just before you drive on the ferry go into the menu and scroll go to the ferry mode section and select it. Move onto the ferry, your tacho will change to driving mode.

Once on board put tacho back onto Rest.

Before driving off, select ferry mode again, as you move tacho will change to driving.

If you need to park up to complete 11 hours plus the movements select Rest again when parked up. When you resume work enter start country from the menu.

If you have had 11 hours rest plus the movement driving on the ferry just carry on, remembering to enter start country from menu before you drive off.

The easiest option is have a reduced 9 hour if you have one. You’ll more than likely be on that boat for longer than that.

i was tempted to do this. i was on the boat for about 9.5 hours if i hadn’t had suffient break what would i have done? all i can think of is be late back to my motor and become the most popular person on board.
