cheers
A few hundred yards without a card in can be put down to shunters moving it around, the DVSA will frown if they see 100KM without a card inserted though!

Is that on both ends of the journey? [emoji6]
I enjoyed reading this a lot, very helpful. First off the camera will not pick you up I very much doubt. Also driving without a card in the yard is completely fine mate as someone has said shunters might have moved your unit ect, but before you put your card in press ok to driving without a card or you get an infringement! ( I only learnt this the other day from someone). As for your title multi drop, 2 drops pffftt, come tell me multi drop after ive done my 36
All the best mate catch up soon.

Errr no. You do not “get” an infringement, by putting your card in without pressing ok. Things don’t magically transfer to a card from a tachograph. It only puts on there what you tell it. Nothing more, nothing less. The rest is automatically recorded.
The VU on the truck will record driving without a card, but that will be recorded whether or not you press “ok”

A few years ago when working on class 2 multi drop where every minute was needed i used to wait till i was leaving our industrial estate before putting the card in (So fueling, ad blue and loading was off card) and on return get the thing out as soon as i was off the main road. One day probably from being so knackered didn’t even notice i didn’t have the card in until 2+hrs later entering the centre of London, just waited another 20mins till the first drop and then inserted it and put it on other work whilst doing the first drop. Lucky nothing ever came of it.
I worked for a proper cowboy type at the beginning as i was a good earner (If your going to chance things it needs to be worth it at least) but i much rather my chilled life now when seeing a DVSA pull in as before i was always expecting the worse.
