well i left the uk on the monday to load utrect tuesday morning, once i was loaded it was head to stockholm, but we could not get parked there till late friday night/saturday morning. i was running with kindle530 and, we wanted to meet up with a mutual friend, joe. he, like me wanted a day alongside lake vattern. we managed to get parked in a services thursday night after a very gentle run north, we didnt want to exert ourselves after all!! we were about 3km from the lake and decided to go and have a look the next day. luckily the friday was very warm and sunny, which was good as we were on pushbikes! we were parked not far from the small town of granna, which runs a ferry service across to the island of tunnerstad. we set off from the services through the wood behind it, which has a track which goes downhill about 3kms
to granna!! its was lightening quick getting down there i can tell you, but none of us looked forward to the climb back up! ( i better point out that kindle had not come along as he didnt have a bike!). once in the town by the lake, we decided to catch the ferry across to the island, as it worked out at about 8 quid i think and we had all day to look round. the ferry crossing took about 20 minutes, and once we were off the other side, what really struck all of us was just how quiet it was, the only sound was the water lapping at the edge of the lake, it was magical!! off we went for a bit of a bike ride round the island, there isnt much to see there really but for relaxing you cant beat it. we then made our way back to the lake, had a sit down and a chit chat while we watched the local mallards having a forage and decided to head back to the trucks before the mosquitos came out in the early evening. it was a hell of an uphill walk with the bikes back to the trucks, but that was irrelivant as the day had been so nice and relaxed, after all we could of been sat on a british motorway being late to get somewhere!
some pis from the day…
the ferry…

approaching the island

we were all a little jealous of this guy…

statue of a boat crank at the ‘port’

that would be joe on his way home as they ordered too many trucks, but they kept him with us in stockholm all of the week and down to here in case there was anything extra to return which was not needed, shame he has gone cos he is a great laugh and always up for going out into town to look around etc

no tim who booked the drivers at busking wanted drivers to commit to all the drives well i couldnt cos of my own work but when the drivers start falling saying i cant make the next drive no doubt he will be ringing us up but for two pins id like to tell him where to shove it cos weve never had to commit to a full tour before, but i will hopefully do the last big leg to meet up with a few of the boys before the end of the season and hopefully grab a beer with you matt
ahhh… My evening will be spent with some Japanese who speak no English programing lights for a show they are doing in the centre of Ã…rhus tomorrow, gonna be a long night I reckon. Have a good show.
