Hope you passed fella? Either way you are doing something that you want to do so stick with it.
Failed.
Knew I would. I scrubbed a kurb 5 minutes before we got back to the yard and he marked me down for the distance I was leaving between parked cars. Was the same distances I’d been leaving the whole time in my eyes but irrelevant as I failed.
Earliest re test I could get was 8th December!!

Sorry to hear that. Keep positive mate, don’t put yourself down.

Best advice. Really spoils my day to hear this - but obviously you’re not happy with the outcome either. Better luck next time.
Pete
I’m just concerned now that I maybstrugglenwith a retest being 7 weeks away, the DVSA really need to start making more tests available. Hopefully everything I have learned stays in my head.
Really ■■■■■■ off right now
Just want to add as well that I don’t at all feel let down with my training, it’s literally just me not driving well enough to pass on the day. Roll on December!

Believe it or not Nick, you wont forget what you’ve learnt and the break till retest will do you good a whole world of good and make you fly through the retest.
I’m kind of hoping that’s the case, after all is done 14 hours prior to test which seemed to stick in my mind well each day. Plus having an hour in the wagon before test may help ready me a little. Roll on December!
After the lows of Yesterday I’ve dusted myself off and had a word with myself!
I’ve got my Module 4 test tomorrow Morning and a training exercise this afternoon. I’m going to focus on that and not look too much at the negativity of the failure Yeaterday. I thought long and hard as to wether this is is the right career for me and I honestly can’t see me doing anything else so I’m just going to have to pass next time!!
Keep going mate. Ive just passed today on my third go and have been where you are now.
It’ll be worth it when you get that pass certificate in your hand
Don’t feel too bad about failing the first attempt. It’s very easy to fail the test through nerves causing a simple lapse in concentration. I’ve had my C+E for more than 10 years now, but I took my D earlier this year. First attempt failed with 4 minors and one serious. I had a 2pm test, and the route went past a school at chucking out time. A long straight road with cars abandoned everywhere (abandoned is a much more accurate description than “parked”), leaving few, if any, passing spaces for a 56-seat coach to pull into. I’d had a number of attempts to pull out that I’d had to abort because of oncoming traffic coming into sight. I was getting a little flustered because of the test conditions, and just once I forgot to reapply the parking brake. I put it back on as soon as I realised, but by that time I’d rolled back about 20 cm. Instant fail.
If the examiner had been testing the two hours of practice driving I’d done prior to the test, I’d have passed because it was pretty much flawless (according to my instructor), but that’s the luck of the draw. The examiner is also known at the test centre for failing pretty much everyone.
Fortunately I passed the retest on the following week, with only 2 minors.
As for the examiner talking to you to calm your nerves, my second examiner certainly had a bit of a chat - at one point, I was slowing down on approach to a set of red lights, and was busy talking to him when I realised that the lights were already green and the other traffic was disappearing off into the distance . He didn’t mark me down for that one, partially as I think he realised it was partly his own fault
Couldn’t really read my examiner that I had for my test. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him but he seemed very “proper” and didn’t particularly want to chat which made it hard for me, as I can’t be doing with driving in silence haha
I think if I nail down the mod 4 tomorrow I’ll know that I’m almost there. I know I’ll pass it one day, just wish it had been yesterday! I surprisingly feel more confident, just felt like a bit of a bellend turning up for the mod 4 training and seeing my instructor the day after the fail haha
Passed Mod 4 with 100% this morning so at least I passed something this week!
Another bit of good news for me is that they have managed to get me a retest pulled forward to 19th Novemeber. Still a few weeks away but I’m really pleased they were able to get me an earlier Test. It’s at 8:30am which is earlier than I would normally pick but at the end of the day I can either drive or I can’t haha
i just had a read through and saw you failed i am gutted for you. You can be the best driver ever and all it takes is one silly error, then bam test failed. Keep your head held high and focus on the re test mate. just look at the beginning of the week what you knew, and how far you have come, i am glad the retest has been brought forward. you will smash it this time!
Keep your chin up - I know it’s tough failing but as it took me 3 times to pass my C test, I can speak as an “experienced” learner. You will get there in the end when the combination of clear roads, confidence & a happy examiner will all come right on the day. Good luck…
I’m hoping I manage to pass this time, I’ve already eaten in to my c+e budget for the retest haha
Know how you feel chap, failed mine this week with 3 minors and 1 serious. All going well until I misjudged the speed of a car coming from the right at an island… He wasn’t even on the island when I pulled out !!.. One second I had loads of space, the next he was right on my ar5e. Knew I’d failed straight away, and felt proper wounded all day, but just got put it down to experience and go for it again. Good look with your retest, just waiting for the date for mine.
I got 2 minors for undue hesitation. No one that knew me could believe it lol I know one of them was for a roundabout, I had a car indicating to come round my way on joining then he decided not to and indicate completely differently. I’d backed right off on approach then when I saw him change I went. To me that wasn’t hesitation more being prepared but never mind!
Fired up for my next test already. Trying to make notes for myself to read and re read so I feel prepared haha
Tracey at Peter Smythe is now officially my favourite person lol My retest has been bought forward to 8:30 this Saturday. Really excited and really nervous at the same time!
