My book Questions

The Elzer Berg commonly known among the Germans as the Katzenpuckel (Cats arched back)

It has been said many times by many people that every driver who has done the Middle East could write a book, and several have, some are still doing so.I’m still thinking about it,I’ve been retired 4 years but I still haven’t found time yet.
However,I did get a letter last year from a publisher who was putting together a book for an ex Middle Easter and had seen my photo gallery on Ferdy Martin’s site at:
www.toprun.ch
This chap wanted my permission to use some of my photos in his book, which I OK’d ,providing my copyright was observed.Thought no more about it as I had supplied someone else with a lot of info for a book which so far has come to nothing.
Next thing I know, this book, hot of the press drops through my letterbox, you’ve seen it advertised,“Baghdad Trucker”,about Kevin Noble that worked for Taffy Davis

How can someone write a book if you dont have any of your own photos to put in it ■■
Seems a bit odd to me, I have a big box full of photos going back to my very first trip to Rome, when I was 18 Oops…I just remembered that you had to be 21 to get your Class 1.
Im sure that most drivers have a similar box of photos…

The book in question does have some of the authors own photos in it, it also has photos contributed by others. The others being either supplied by Ferdy of Toprun or copyrighted by the poster two posts up.

I am hoping for a bit of commision for Klunks book :stuck_out_tongue: I was telling a bloke who was exhibiting an ex Astran motor at Gaydon today. He was interested in it and will be visiiting this site soon.

Maybe I can get a bit of commision off Ricki too

Hi Coffeholic
Thanks for the insight.

Depends on how long you’ve been doing it and whether or not you are a keen photographer. Kevin Noble was doing the job for about 3 years I think,I was doing it for 12,and looking back,I wish I’d taken more pics.

I started in 81 when I was 18, and I took a camera with me all the time, some of my pics came out really crap, and there were some countries where I didnt dare take any pics, looking back though I wish I had taken the chance. I still got some good one though, some of which I will be sharing with you all very soon.
Thats if anyone is interested.

GS, you mention Booby Butler, Penge etc, are you from that area? Im From Norwood, I was 19 in 1981, maybe we crossed paths at some point.

Bullitt.

Hi Bullit
Im from the East End originally, and in 81 was living in Stepney. During my driving years I lived mainly in the E10 area.
But our paths may have crossed at some time. Those boys from over the water were like the Commies come over the East end and nicked our jobs…ha ha
