Mv Armorique - very nice

Crossed over to Portsmouth on it this morning, my first impression was WOW ! :astonished: BF are def keeping up appearances.
They handed out a letter beforre embarkation which said that the vessel was the youngest in the fleet, didn’t they have an Armorique before in Truckline colours doing Poole/ Cherbourg ?
If you get a cabin and use the shower turn on the power-shower the button is on top of the Shower-head itself. It’s that powerful you could jet wash the truck with it

The Armorique usually sails Roscoff to Plymouth, its about 4 years old now and is basically the same hull as the Cotentin, with a different superstructure. You will find all Brittany ships to be very clean and well maintained, however some of the crew can be miserable and arrogant - particularly on the Cap Finistere.

I know some may disagree but I find Brittany to be one of the best ferry operators in Europe. Ok the staff can but grumpy but the ships/cabins/showers are spotless and the food in my opinion is really good. I’d rather pay for good food than get crap for free. My other favourite is Superfast Ferries. Same as BF, miserable staff but the rest is fantastic.

Definately agree on the cleanliness of all the fleet, even the older ones like Bretagne still sparkle, they’re always on top of reburbishments. Must say though never had any coplaints re attitude of the crew. Can’t comment on Cap Finistere as never sailed on her.

Been on both. Crew aren’t misereable. They are French. Probably ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  off with ā– ā– ā– -hole truckers giving them grief! I am polite with them, I get the same back. Simple really.

I regularly use the long boats across from Spain to UK and beleive me the crew of the Cap Finistere are generally rude, arrogant and treat lorry drivers like something stuck to the bottom of there shoe. On the other hand the crew of the Cotentin are very friendly and helpful.

I would add that the food on the Cap Finistere is usually atrocious, it usually sits on the counter for hours on end, is cold and has to my certain knowledge been responsible for a good few drivers becoming well aquainted with the nearest toilet.

Remember when the food was free in the drivers lounge on Brittany? fantastic salad platters and then a main meal cooked to order. Wine on tap! Driven off into Caen/Cherbourg many times straight into a parking place on the dock for a good sleep! Happy days!

The food is still free on the long boats, but we no longer get free wine at lunch and dinner, that was stopped about 3 months ago. Quite a few drivers now take there own wine on board and have even been known to ask the crew for a cork screw!

The food is crap? Do you mean in the new part for drivers only? I didn’t think so. :open_mouth:

Well maybe you were just lucky! I have the misfortune to use the Cap Finistere regularly and like pretty much every other regular on there be they Spanish, Portuguese, irish or British everyone seems to be of the same opinion - the food is crap and the crew ignorant. And yes I meant the new (now a year old) cafeteria style drivers restaurant.

No complaints here either. It wasn’t 5 star cuisine but It’s not a 5 star restaurant it’s a Ferry
As for the crew, no issue with them either. Had a good laugh with a few of them even :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Seeing the attitudes and arrogance they have to deal with though I’m sure they have off days when it has worn a bit thin and TBH I wouldn’t blame them. Like the moaning at what you get free or charged for, which isn’t there fault as they have to abide by the rules and explain the stock levels.

Must just be ā€œone of those thingsā€

I was on the Cap Finistere about Octoberish. Drivers were moaning about the number of coffee’s they were getting for free. Of course there were the usual ā€œWe get unlimited drinkā€ merchants. So in front of a packed bar area, I spoke loudly (In French) to the barman…

How many free coffees/teas are the drivers allowed?
He replied 3. To which there was uproar and shouting at the staff. I walked off and left 'em to it.
I like the food, attitude on there. If you don’t…You don’t.
