Or one for the discerning rocker, ofren looked upon as the Poor man’s U2’ but imo an even better band than U2…
Simple minds The Waterftont …and Dont you forget about me’’
Turn up volume to just under thr pain threshold and feel the goosebumps. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :joy:

John Barry’s theme for Dances With Wolves is fairly well known, but when the pipes of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards join in it simply soars.

Definitely something about pipes, eh?

A different take?
Here’s 80s Scottish band Big Country with their brand of music that tries to emulate the pipes with electric guitar.
Lead singer the late Stuart Adamson.

The Dave Stewart and Candy Dulfer cover reminded me of this playing through the nights on an empty M1 and the big DAF motor rumbling quietly along in the background at a steady 60 mph.Saxophone is a great instrument.

Saw them live at the NEC and Birmingham Theatre in the days when local coach companies bought the tickets and provided the transportation with Eagle Coaches in Bristol.

Then a few times when Stuart was no more after his suicide in an Hawaiian hotel room, before that he went AWOL.

The legend of Bruce Watson who vapes on stage , to the ex lead singer of The Alarm who sounded just like Stuart.

And lead singer Mike Hough also had an identical voice.

It’s a shame the bassist Tony Butler hasn’t returned to the band.

Speaking of Tony Butler…

in consideration of the forthcoming anniversary, and it’s mention over on the orange line:

Continuing with Neil Young, but his treatment of Peggi a few years later is shameful. This with Peggi is definitely the best rendition of this Classic Canadian song

Thanks for that.

Got me thinking apart from James Tiberius Kirk, how many Yanks, ain’t Yanks?
Given this is a music thread:
You’ve given us Neil Young and I guess some of us Joni Mitchell is also Canadian.
A quick google also gives Martha and the Muffins. (I thought they were Aussies) K D Lang, Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, Buffy St Marie, Guess Who, (both the former are only for us oldies maybe?) cough…Justin Beeber..cough…Celine Dione , Gordon Lightfoot, Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, The Band…yep “The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down” and their guitarist Robbie Robertson who later played with Dylan…Drake, Leonard Cohen, prog rockers Rush,
Enough waffle from me, time for a music sample.,
The Band 1970’s

And Robbie Robertson again, but with Ringo Starr and many others, same song 50 years later.

Great track. I didn’t know Aretha Franklin did a cover of it until a few weeks ago. Was listening to Jukebox Wednesday on 5live. She certainly did it justice as you’d expect :+1:

Here is an even younger Robbie Robertson. In 1967 with Buffalo Springfield.

One of those songs that many must have heard without knowing the original version.

A couple of tracks on radio today I hadn’t heard for ages…
Starting off with ‘Canned Heat’ Let’s work together.

Speaking of…
.I found this,.audience on TOTP dancing to it.
Call me an old perv but I could watch women dancing all day, love the graceful moves of a woman,
(Ok…I’m an old perv :joy:)
Dancing is what first attracted me to my wife in fact.

Then a bit of ‘The Cult’ with ’ She sells sanctuary '.
(Word has it that the lead singer Ian Asbury was attested by the Fashion Police after coming off stage.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

And to finish off…back to my youth with a bit of ’ ‘‘The Ruts’’…‘Babylons burning’.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Rainbow a line up of greats giving everything: Graham Bonnet, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Don Airey and Cozy Powell.
