Multi drop tyres

Hi everyone,
I’m a newly Class 2 driver and was offered a Multi drop tyres job. Can anyone give me any tip or advise about there experience.

Guy I know used to do it and they had to collect old tyres too…came home every day looking like he had been down the pits, very dirty job if your collecting used tyres.
Also a lot of drops, most places order tyres to re stock what they sell so maybe 10-30 you’ll carry a hell of a lot more than that which means lots of drops.

Tks a lot for the quick respond, I won’t turn down now but at least i know what to expect. its from Mon-Fri starting 5h30 to god knows when, so I’ll see how it goes not forgetting i need to built up experience. Tks Again

No probs fella, not every place collects the old tyres so it could be a cushy little number but I’d imagine it will be quite a few drops a day as tyres don’t take up much room so expect lots of them on the back of your wagon
He worked for great bear distribution on behalf of Michelin.

Where will you be working?

Ive done it for two places via agency. One of easiest class two jobs ever done. Rarely picked old ones up and always finshed by 1400.

I used to sometimes deliver tyres on class 1 work, could sometimes be 3 or 4 drops, mostly the loaders would put some cardboard between the different drops, so as to help avoid chucking the tyres off at the wrong customer  .

I do remember the quickest way to unload though, drop a tyre flat on the floor about your arms length from the stack, then turn to the stack pick up the next tyre, turn to face back off the truck, at the same time put a foot against the side of the tyre facing you(the tyre on the floor) then drop the tyre you are holding(on the roll) onto the edge of the tyre facing the rear of the truck, get it right, and the tyre you are dropping goes to the end of truck without any effort of throwing, even the length of a 45" trailer. Its seriously quicker than I’ve explained, and probably at your first drop someone will show you how, when they’re fed up of waiting

There’s a place local to us that has a really bad reputation. Not so sure if it’s the job or the owner.
If you’re in the Worthing area and it starts with a P and ends in a Y then beware.

Yeah, tread carefully. Inflated ego’s in this game.

I did this job as a limper with ats Carlisle , not a bad job but if you couldn’t get in to the depot (cars parked ). it could be hard work rolling truck tyres down the street .took me east coast, borders and across to Glasgow .

You were absolutely right, 1st day Monday manning we did 14 drops of 91 tyres and collected 260 old tyres. Back to yard around 4pm knockout then OFFLOADED the 260 old tyres to a Class 1 waggon. Tuesday, we had 20 drops of 125 tyres and collected 25 olds in Bournemouth and Poole and surrounding. Luckily it was only 2 days jobs and begged the agency not send me back there. The 2 drivers i went with were also complaining and looking for other jobs around. But overall it was a good experience and practice. Tks again

Sounds like fun in this weather!!

How are you getting on with this on your own? I only ever did this for a few days while on agency, but the problem I had was identifying the product quickly. With them all being round and black and looking very similar it meant having to read every label, which invariably meant rolling and turning each tyre around to read it. If only someone had thought to put drop numbers on them in tyre chalk it would have been so much easier.
