Hi, finally had enough of my day job this week, was going to wait until I got my c+e before job hunting but enough is enough. Hit the agencies hard today and the general impression I got was that I would struggle as a new pass cat c, many just said come back when you have class 1. That was until I registered with Haul It, (anyone used them?). They called as I was driving out of the car park so my imediate reaction was to ask if I had left something behind, not so, they had already been on the blower and secured an assessment with muller for tomorrow (Wednesday) so realy I just want to know what I should expect and what I should take with me (boots hi vis etc). Also unbelievably I have already turned a job down, they ( e response) called after I had arranged the assessment asking if I could start tomorrow 6am think it was delivering and installing office equipment. Not sure if I am going to regret turning a job down but it realy doesn’t seem like my sort of thing. Another call from blue arrow and they want me to come in and do a full registration tomorrow with a view to doing an assessment/induction on Thursday for a new dhl contract in Coventry. Seeing as how I live between rugby and coventry that one would suit a lot better as the muller job is in Raunds about an hour away from me. But I don’t want to turn another job down and end up with nothing (assuming muller would take me).
What you need is a start mate to gain at least a few weeks experience, it doesn’t really matter what it is…
After that things get a bit easier!
Never done Wiseman’s but believe it’s shop deliveries pushing cages around.
Best of luck!

Cheers, that’s what I figured it would be, just the unknown playing on my nerves a bit I suppose, never done an assessment before so not sure what to expect.
Be clean and smart.
Drive carefully and cautiously.
Listen to everything your told and ask questions where appropriate…
Be polite and not cocky!
Act keen even if it’s a lie!
Just hark back to your test, check the motor over, drive safe and careful, that’s it really

I’m a taxi driver, so the exact opposite of everything you’ve just said lol
HI mate. Just wondered how you got along with this and what was involved as I too have been invited for an interview with Muller tomorrow (Plymouth Depot).
You get to drive a battered old Scania opti cruise around to crappy little shops. You will also get to have multiple confrontations with members of the public, and a metal trolley full of 4 pinters on its side every time one of the wheels hits a microscopic piece of gravel.
Enjoy… Or you could do yourself a favour and pass your class 1 and wave bye bye to all that gash.
I’m a fairly new cat c driver at the depot you had your interview at today (I’m assuming from the location you described at least ), I can give you a few more details if you want but overall I’d say I’m enjoying the work itself so far, I’m just struggling with the early start times which can be anything between 2-6am on the morning shifts, most are between 3.30 and 5.
The money is decent espicially for my first class 2 job but I don’t think I’ll last much longer as I’m just not getting enough sleep.
Unfortunately the assessment was canceled. Apparently the assessor had to go out in a truck, though there was no mention of rescheduling?
Good news is that I have one for dhl in Coventry tomorrow
Was it a bloke who cancelled you? How dairy!

Haha no crying here, today’s assessment went a lot better (in the sense that I had an assessment today).
Tomorrow they’re giving me a truck and some paperwork and off I go to be lorryist.

Congrats mate, and I think the words you’re looking for are “VAN driver!”
Best of luck!

I believe Coventry have just taken on a new contract on the grapevine.
