I would like to see you get a 977 on the back of a tipper. You may even struggle with a Drott?

seen it 951s regular on back of 6 wheelers
Used to regularly put a Komatsu D55 or D31 onto the back of a six wheeler. As long as the body floor was steel it was ok. One of the biggest plant / muckshifting companies on Tyneside still puts a Cat on the back of a scow end 8 wheeler.
thanks for reply not much h and s then they were to busy my
my farther done it many times with 951s and smaller machines
would like to see some photos of that
Used to be common for small muckshift firms a Drott would fit quite nice in a 6 wheeler run up it on the back off a pile of muck or even timber ramps used call them “deals” round my way!

That must be the firm from Prudhoe? scow end eight wheelers!
This Scania eight wheeler regularly moves large plant around for G M Joyce Surfacing from Kington, Herefordshire. I can remember lots of people moving tracked machines with tippers back in the 1960’s.
do u remember there was a firm in Halifax that
made a frame that was adjustable to suit the
with of the machine track the frame sat on
the tipper body floor
you could tip up and run machine up
using 2 railway sleepers

The firms I see doing it these days carry small road planers on an 8 wheel roll-on-off, have seen 360’s as well look but a bit top heavy! BTW Waiting for the question,WTF’s a Drott!

Showing my age now, but a Drott was a smallish tracked kind of bulldozer, I have seen them with a blade on, but mostly a loading bucket, I have also seen them with a back digging arm like a JCB. in it’s day it was a good little tool.

Not sure if we are on about the same company here or not but the one I’m Thinking of also put 963 cats in the back of scow end bodies I think the 963 grew in weight over the years ultimately making it to heavy for a steel bodied 8 wheeler so the 953’s ultimately took over.
I remember once seeing them turn up at a greenfield site one tipper with a load of stone the other with a 963 stone tipped in tight heap and the 963 carrying tipper backed up to the stone body up 5 ft 963 backed out teetered for a second or two and dropped nicely on to the stone heap , 3 minutes after arriving on site and it was work stripping top soil.
pp oconnor from Manchester used to have plenty 951s
and scow end Leyland rievers and bisons
seen many a cat on the back of them
we used to move drotts and fiat fl4s and 6s on ten ton tippers and cat 951s on ssix wheelers regularly at one time in the 70s.
I believe the word " drott " was first used by International, it then became a generic name for any small , tracked loading shovel/dozer.
I used to move them with a 4 wheeler skip wagon , tracked em on to a steel plate with skip lugs on lifted her up and away.
