If you park in a coach parking area on a MSA on a break, or even for a few minutes to go to the bog, you run the risk of returning to your motor to find it has been clamped, so why do they not enforce the same rules for cars, cars with caravans, or small vans parking on the truck parking area, I have pulled on some of the smaller MSAs where the park has been full because of this and it was just ignored, not a clamper to be seen.

you’re a bit behind the times.
clamping was made illegal in scotland, then it was introduced in england and wales.
you may have noticed no one being clamped recently.
I park on the coach park area at tibshelf most weekday nights, I don’t like to disturb those sleeping or take up space in the main truck park for half an hour. Never seen a clamper. I do know that if they want to clamp you then they have to have a licence to do so and have visible signage stating that.
Sent on the bank holiday as I have nothing else to do.

That was my understanding…but they are still using clampers in Maidstone services…just last week i was witness to a foreign truck being clamped in the coach park

As far as I’m aware it is still legal to clamp vehicles in England and this won’t change until October.

Car drivers do whatever they like & get away with it anyway…

i’ll double check. it was supposed to have been introduced in december 2010.
Maidstone services - what a joke, there isn’t room to park anything bigger than a wheelbarrow.

Assuming no further delays, it becomes law on October the 1st this year as part of the Protection of Freedoms Bill.
So in England and Wales clamping is still legal. In Scotland it was outlawed in 1991 or 1992

your telling me, i pulled in there at like 7pm one wednesday night, saw it was mobbed bar 1 space, some how managed to get it in but went over my time by 1 minute trying to squeeze it in otherwise i woulda parked in the coach bay if the clamper wasnt there,
granted he did help me get out by chucking 2 foriegn tilt vans into the car park so that freed up 2 spaces to try screw it round, vowed never to go in there again though
I’d say that if a car pulls into a services, it’s occupants are going inside spending money.
I’d say that a lot of truck drivers pull into a services because the law says so, and they’ll only spend a penny inside (if they can be arsed walking that far - if not, the penny will be spent on the wheel).
So, that’s why they won’t put car drivers off with clamping etc, but not arsed about truckers.
If you park in a coach bay at a msa then fair enough if you get away with it.
but if you park up for your 9/11 hrs off then its not a good idea Do you really want woken up several times by a coach load of kids screaming thier heads off during the night whilst you are trying to get some slumber.
Its not the first time some hairy assed trucker has came out of his cab wanting to kick me all over the coach park for daring to park my coach in a coach space lol
