Commercial Motor challenged the Bosses of Motorway service areas to spend a night in a truck at one of their services - only one took up the challenge, the CEO of Welcome Break, and you can read what he thought in this weeks CM on sale now

But well done to him for taking up that challenge maybe he could shame some of the others into doing the same but wonder why the rest didnt take it up or do they really know how bad things are
Would they care? surely their job is all about profit not conditions for a lowly trucker, the cars and coaches carry far more money the MSA’s can rip off customers per square foot than any truck.
It does make you wonder whether MSA owners would be bothered about it. Personally I don’t think they do care for reasons mentioned above.
I don’t use MSA’s if I need to travel the motorway’s. I’ve always tried to avoid them. Instead I pull off them and use local amenities in nearby towns. It’s a pity truck drivers can’t do the same as it would probably be more beneficial to themselves and smaller local business’, but MSA operators know this don’t they and that’s why they can charge what they like for services or lack of.
So no need for their exec’s to sample the services they dish out IMO.

he took up the challenge. he should be congratulated for making the effort.
i hope he had a chat with drivers regarding any concerns.
i bet he didn’t have to pay out of his own pocket though.

Exactly, last time I was there I got sent to the northbound side women’s, I thought lovely clean full off flowers… Minging

I cant imagine the state these showers are from reading some of the stuff on here, do you get a free dose of athletes foot thrown in?? 
I think myself lucky i dont have to put up with â– â– â– â– like that. Kudos to you guys that have to endure it.

Welcome break have the best showers out there I reckon.
I see moto at Thurrock done a decent thing and put 3 new showers in. No hot water in the sinks though so you have to go to the toilets for a shave (where there is no cold water so if you brush your teeth with cold then its back in the shower room lol!). They done a good job at Cherwell valley though, but then the insurance will have paid for that after the fire!
I never buy CM as its got too many adverts for trucks in and not enough adverts for drivers for my liking, however I may get this one (if I cant find a freebie one somewhere first!)
