MPG Figures for company drivers

Happydaze:
My lot don’t care about MPG as long as the job is done. Provided you’re not stealing it or standing next to an idling motor having a chat, they leave you alone.

A saving of 2MPG can save them £15k a year so I think thats a bit of a stupid attitude to take.

Our company has been postig ‘league table’ charts with the results showing as percentages for things like green-band driving, harsh accelleration, harsh braking, excessive idling and the like.
I think it’s bollox, I keep challenging the govenor to equate that in litres of fuel saved, but he won’t be drawn. I suspect that the difference between top and bottom performers can be measured in thimblesfull :grimacing:

Yeah but I save 3mpg compared to some but do I get anything extra?

My company don’t monitor MPG either as far as I am aware, we have to keep a record of fuel we use and day to day mileage but never hear anything back. I can only assume they are happy with their current fuel costs.

We used to have a list one the wall with names etc but they stopped cause some drivers complained about it apparently other depots use clock in numbers so i dont see why we cant do that.

We have a competition each quarter top driver gets 50quid in capital bonds voucher, overall driver of the year goes into a final at silverstone against the other depots top drivers. Ive never had a sniff at it, won driver of the quarter once though but night drivers always win it us dayshift cant compete with empty roads :unamused:

If I remember rightly the target is 8.3.We run fully loaded pretty much all night, return legs are a lot lighter the majority of the time.
Stay to that or above and you will be fine and get left alone. Some time back those under 8.3 had to go out with driver trainers to be taught fuel efficient driving.
There is a direct link to people not getting the required mpg rtns and our motors running at 85k.

My limiter cuts in before the sweetspot is hit at 1500 rpm. I can’t get more than 53 when using the pedal but even when cc is used to get to 55 it’s still not upto the line on the rev counter. Is the cut off at 53 an eco mode or something as most of our drivers have had this disabled?

Yeah? Next time you’re buying 15 new motors, a new 360, a new loading shovel, and adding yet another operating centre in the space of a month, let me know and I’ll tell my guvnor what a stupid attitude he has to business.

You mug.

Sounds like you’re in the recycling sector; Their the big spenders around here at the moment.

We do some, but it’s not our main activity. You’re right though, I cannot believe the amount of new motors in London and the SE. Everybody seems to be trying to buy more than the next firm! Recycling, Civils, Aggregates etc. I’m glad to see it, I think it shows confidence (I hope it’s not just a tax offset) and we need a bit of that.
