Can you drive a rigid (up to 38t) on your licence.
I did not think there was a weight limit stated for a C licence

Slight error there on my part ROG, I actually meant 32t as it is the biggest rigid vehicle generally available, and the biggest most are likely to drive.
You are right there is no maximum. I did not intend to add further confusion!!!
I have been reading too much stuff on the forum about 38 tonners
There is NO upper LICENCE weight limits for rogid ‘C’ or for C+E

wonder what he was refering to then, unless he just plucked that figure out of the air
I was trying to simplify it for people that don’t seem to have any grasp how licence categories work
I don’t “pluck” figures out of the air, i made a mistake and corrected it.
RIGHT im of to sit in the corner now with my bottle of gin…
this question always seems to cause a flux of adverse reactions i think it should be a sticky with very large red lettering as to inform the lgv c drivers amongst us that they can drive a tractor unit with or without 5th wheel, and be done with it!!!
Sorted!

No one would read it.
I think this topic has been posted about 3 or 4 times this year and certainly in the last 2 months.

Ive always thought that if you had a class 2 ,you could drive a unit with the 5th wheel disabled so you cannot pick up a trailer, however recently my TM has been getting class 2 drivers to drive units into London for repairs/collect from London.
Is it legal to do without blocking the 5th wheel??
You’ve had the long winded answers so I’ll stick with the concise answer :
Yes it is legal to drive a unit on it’s own with a C license without disabling the 5th wheel
a unit is a very small class c vehicle but can u drive it on a class c licence with the massive load of a fifth wheel on it
#
i cant believe so many so called proffesionals still dont understand that you can.
ROG, can i drive a unit on a class c licence if it has one extra step to climb into the cab than a rigid does

ROG’s “experts” got all giddy when the call came through on the red phone, to get a definitive answer to the question in question…here is a pic of them who at the time were searching for an answer to the question "7 cards in one week, LEGAL or not "

Yes.
short, consice, and to the point
cheers for that lads
just one more question that i need answering, a driver told me that i cant drive a left ■■■■■■ if i only have a right ■■■■■■ licence, unless the indicator arm is switched from right side to the left side on the steering columb !
is this true because he is very experienced and knows everything about everything and has been everywhere and done more miles in reverse than i have done in forward gears
