Moving to Northern Ireland

Moving to NI so going to be looking for a new job but won’t be doing cross channel UK work.
Looking for companies that do local work delivering around Irelandm north and south?

Know about the usual ones McLernons and Sawyers but just wondering if there are any others to try.

Also details what sort of work and money are involved for just local work around Ireland would be good, cheers.

what town?

what town?

Belfast mate.

Would be able to travel within the Belfast area, Portadown and Armagh wouldn’t be too far.

Don’t want to do cross channel work to start off with as the Mrs would rather i was home every night when we get a new house.

I’m aware of the usual companies that go across on the boat but unsure if they would be taking drivers on just doing local work across Ireland.

Any companies that specialise in just Irish work and what sort of money would i be looking at?

Armagh is way too far from Belfast for local work!!!

Your talking about £80/£100 home day for local work,
Yes pure DUNG which is reason you don’t want to commute too far!!!

McCulla Lisburn pays £110 home for Lidl store work.

Yeah, Lurgan or Portadown would be ok maybe Armagh would be too far.

Would Agro or McLernons be taking on drivers for local work or they just mainly doing trips?

as you will see from the cream of the crop workwise in n.i. then you will notice that even for the normal selection of almost no choice, then at the moment there is no choice whatsoever.

theres generally plenty of dung local work if you just even google belfast area hauliers and get on the phone.#
once you get a start somewhere then you will not be long in picking something better up.
theres always the option of using the dreaded word…“agency”
thatl get you into tesco/sainsburys,belfast bin lorrys ,home bargains and similar.

Anyone got any info about Derry transport?

Is it RDC work around Ireland or doing stores?

for derry think morgan mclernon and mushrooms.
any local work within commuting distance from belfast will be much of a muchness.
wait till next week and start phoning when your in a position to start the next day.
it wont be rocket science getting a start though id leave out the bit about not wanting cross channel to start with.
stick your nose into dfds.leave your details on the notice board, and phone around the subbies if its local dung your looking for.

Derry Refrigeration are based in Portadown only do Irish work there is plenty of day work there with the odd night out no idea on the money, generally working round home tends to be max hours everyday. Their work is a mix of RDC and normal although as a rule RDC work in Ireland is not as bad as in GB unless you get Lidl Newbridge then make sure you’ve plenty of patience.

nutts corner isnt exactly an overly friendly quick tip.
best thing to do what i did years ago and what my mate did last year and just get barred from site…job done.

Try Woodsides, you can work out of Belfast or Ballynure (15 mins from Belfast). Going to be honest I work there and money’s not fantastic but shortest hours I’ve ever worked, average 7 hour day, no hassles like phone calls, you get your work at the start of your shift and the quicker you finish the better it is for you. They won’t add on extra work if they see you driving through the gate after 6 hours, only time you can get delayed is Tesco deliveries but Tesco in Northern Ireland is a complete different kettle of fish to English RDCs. Ring them and ask for DRIVER TRAINERS Jim or Mark, both good guys who’ll look after you.

It has improved there, now the Honey Monster is no longer on goods in

my mate tipped there a while ago and instead of waiting the usual 2 hours for paperwork he drove away , loaded a full load in mallusk, then came back for the paperwork 2 hours later which they refused to give him as they had thrown them in the bin cos he was a smartass and went and got loaded.
once they knew he was loaded they tried to reject the load as they knew he couldnt lift it and at the same time he could see his lines sticking out the bin 5 feet away from him.
one thing led to another with his firm backing him to the extent he had a free hand in doing whats required to get barred for life.

My son worked out of Lidl for a well known haulier and got himself barred for arguing about the health and safety aspects of the loads they expected him to deliver. Pallets stacked over 7ft high (he measured it) and badly built pallets etc etc. He took pics and refused to take the load but his boss basically backed Lidl and after a heated argument with a Lidl manager he quit but not before the Lidl manager accused my son of punching him and banning him from site. He didn’t hit him but did say afterwards he wished he had lol. Lidl work is the lowest of low driving jobs and they wonder why they can’t get drivers.

both lidl and aldi just like to do everything to remind the uk that while they are happy to take money from the paying public then they also like to remind us that they didnt take kindly to loosing 2 world wars with the result that they do anything and everything they possibly can to humiliate and demean any drivers that have the misfortune to visit their sites.
similary it wasnt uncommon for a lot of mercedes cars to have the ignition key on the wrong side of the wheel.

Well if Boris gets brexit done, then the Reich can have Europe back, once we pull the draw bridge up, and America can helps us again with a few drone strikes… Near the new Reichstage in Brussels.
