Cars are as bad, they dont get the speed up to join the motorway then when you move over they speed up and leave one stranded
I don’t get this.
if they stay at the side of you…they’re wrong
if they speed up and F off…they’re wrong
if you want them to come on to the carriagway and drop behind you, why bother moving over in the first place ?
I’ve often moved over for cars as they’ve approached the end of the slip lane because they seemingly couldn’t be bothered to accelerate then they pull out and immediately decide to accelerate leaving you in lane 2 for no reason at-all.
Though these days if I think they could accelerate into a gap I’m reluctant to move over, the result of this is that on more than one occasion I’ve watched through the mirror as some idiot has stopped on the slip lane forcing other traffic to squeeze past them or stop
I move over for a vehicle which is obviously faster than me, such as a car. They join and accelerate away leaving it clear for me to slide back to the left. Neither of us had to lose speed and we both got on with our day without inconveniencing each other. I think, nice one, and I’m happy.
I move over for a vehicle which is obviously faster than me, such as a car. They join and then dither about waiting for me to get ahead of them out of some misguided sense of courtesy, meaning I have to keep an eye on them in the n/s mirror. Or they then slow down a lot, out of some misguided sense of courtesy, causing problems for anything behind them in lane1. The simple situation has been over complicated. I think they’re a bit dim and I’m less than happy.
I move over for a vehicle which has about the same speed as me. They join and hold their joining speed until it’s clear for me to slide back to the left. Neither of us had to lose speed and we both got on with our day without inconveniencing each other. I think, nice one, and I’m happy.
I move over for a vehicle which has about the same speed as me. They join and and just sit there, making it obvious they will continue with this for as long as it takes, so I cannot slide back to the left. I have to ease off, causing possible problems for anyone behind me. I think they’re very dim and I’m less than happy but as they are obviously a ■■■■ I would rather have them in front of me where I can see their antics than behind me doing god knows what.
None of the above will affect my day to any great level in either a good or a bad way and within a few seconds I will be onto thinking about something else.

Red and green the same en?
No.
Misguided sense of courtesy possibly causing problems for following vehicles.
I don’t want to play their silly games possibly causing problems for following vehicles.

I hope this helps.
No? both situations cause problems for vehicles behind but the only difference is how you interpret the situation in your head, if your coming up the slip road at 40 and see a truck moving over for you just reduce the speed at which you accelerate upto 56, the truck will then pass you and slip back into lane 1, no other drivers affected.

Which was the third option in my post and is what I would do when being the joiner rather than the moving overer.
In option 1 they think it’s the most courteous option when it would be more courteous, as in making life easier for you to put the pedal down and [zb] off.
In option four it’s minimising the effect of the ■■■■, ease off then move back to lane 1 rather than stay there for miles until a hill or a slower vehicle causes him to drop back.
It’s called courtesy, ask yourself a question, would you behave in such a manner if you were not behind the wheel? would you walk through a door with someone behind you and let it swing shut in their face of course you wouldn’t.

Not enough information to answer, can you clarify who is behind me because it would make a difference.
Couple of years ago I was walking into the shopping centre here and I sensed someone behind me, didn’t have a clue who so I held the door so it didn’t smack them in the face. I then got berated by this 30 something woman for being sexist so if she is behind me again that door is swinging shut no question.
I don’t dislike anyone enough to shut a door on them, especially if I have never met them before.
I suppose if it were a particularly odious character that you knew of, perhaps Bill Gates or the late Osama Bin Laden or that snake maxwell and say perhaps the had their hands full then yes I suppose it could be satisfying to let them struggle, the chances of me meeting either of the above at the end of a slip road are quite slim. I’ll stick with courtesy for the moment.
Big ■■■■:
I’m sorry but i have stopped moving over for anything to join and i normally get a load of verbal and they normally get my middle finger
But i do find its mostly younger (in there 20s) hgv drivers that keep you out in the middle lane they seem to find it funny
Old school drivers are pretty good
+1
What motorway does this happen on? The 1% of the time I can actually see the driver (due to the other 99% hiding behind their curtains) they usually look over 40. I am 28 and always keep my speed down so they can get back into lane 1, would rather help them in than let them take my cab out due to their middlelanephobia.
every motorway and d/c in the land, i’v lost count the amount of times i moved over too let another truck join only for them too join and sit there leaving me in middle lane holding up other road users due too there ignorince. busby if you do as you say then your in a minority that do
