Moving house to mallorca Help Please

Friends of ours are upping sticks and moving to mallorca early next year. The plan is to take half there belongings just before xmas then the other half when they fully go out in march.
I have offered my services for the drive down but as i have no experience of euro driving (apart from rent a car at holiday resort) any advice would be greatly recieved.
I will be taking a 7.5t truck so i believe that would keep me below any restrictions and also be cheaper.
Would i have to use a tacho and adhere to all EC rules or as it is private use will i not need to.
What would be the best route and how long would it take, i would cross the water at dover.
would anyone know where for me to look to find out ferry costs and toll costs.

Thanks in advance

You can do a search on here for removals and get loads of threads.

Or you can spend days ringing round, looking online or writing to people to find the same answer.

This question is asked about once a week in various guises and the word on the street seems to be, forget it, its too expensive, get the professionals in who will be half price to what you can do it for.

The problem is that your friends have probably got a quote from professionals already and want you to do it for half that price. :open_mouth:

By the time you hire a truck, insure it for the continent, put fuel in it and pay the ferry or train you will have spent more than the cost of a removal company doing it, and they supply the labour too

Wheel Nut is right, maybe you want to try somebody like this lot…

Dont know anything about them but if they go there weekly then they “should” be cheaper than a "go any / every where removal firm.

White and Company are a national company with a depot in Mallorca. Would suggest they ring them. Access on the island can be a nightmare and they are set up to receive it into their depot and shuttle it out on small vans.

The price might seem high at first but when you look deeper and the costs that are involved it is always easier to leave it to the proffessionals who do it day in and day out!
