Moving house and tacho

I know this subject has been done to death, I’ve read most of the posts, but just want something confirmed.
I have the day off today, but I have some large bulky things I need to move into storage as we are moving house soon.

The boss said I can use our 7.5t lorry for the day to move the stuff.
It will only be local driving within a 2 mile radius.

So do I.

  1. Not bother putting my tacho card in at all
  2. Put my card in but select out of scope on the tacho
  3. Put the tacho in as usual and just record my private activities as work.

Any definitive answer would be muchly appreciated.

Don’t know if i can give you a definitive legal answer, but logically I’d use the card, do two printouts at the end of the day, both for you and to hand in, stating private mileage to move house on annual leave, not for hire or reward. The problem with not putting a card in, is the vehicle is specified on your employers o licence. That’ll open up a big can of worms if you get stopped or have an accident, not to mention the missing mileage for your operator to account for.

Answer = 2

Thanks, used out of scope.
Once I found it in the tacho menu. :laughing:
